after long consideration i have decieded to go witha dc2 shell.
over lunch i considered doing a k20a swap but thought why not go further witha k24.
does anyone know if they k24 will fit well and how would diffs and axles fit into a dc2.
any major lopping and chopping of chassis/shell.
apprently in the states they have k series swap mounts that attach to b series mounting points.
any suggestions on a direction to go.

mounts:
www.hasport.com
www.hybrid-racing.com
You will need aftermarket axles unless you get JDM 98+ brakes because they have a 36mm hub that matches the k-series 36mm axle. Plenty of aftermarket support here though.
The only "chopping" you need to do is on your old drivers side mount, you remove that and put your aftermarket bracket in its place.
You also need many other things such as:
Complete new fuel setup
Rariator and new rad location
clutch line
conversion harness (hybrid-racing, rywire, r-crew etc)
all the usual engine bits of course..
Its a very expensive swap to. Wanna hope you have enough money and experience to do this.

Oh i forgot to mention.
Sign up to www.k20a.org right now if you are serious about this swap. All the info you ever need you will find there.
Im doing a K24A into an EG, build thread is in my sig, im not ready to install the engine yet though.
k24a will fit good on dc2 shell
run dc5r axles with 32mm outer CV
Hasport mounts is the way to go
pretty much bolt on but you may want to weld the mounting bracket

silly question
How are you k24 guys registering a 2.4l in a max 1.8 shell ? Dont answer if its not legal just give this guy advice about engineering the car etc.
What kind of price ONTOP of everything to get a K24 swap LEGAL ?

Just do the swap right in the 1st place.
Its Legal if you engineer it
thats what John from Consulmotive said.

There is no reason why the conversion wouldn't be legal if it is properly engineered. And if John says it is, then it is. He is one of the most respected engineers around at the moment and doesn't do any dodgy certificates. If you need to get something engineered he is the man to speak to.

cheers for teh clarification for everyone - but what rough PRICE is this person ( and any others) looking at engineering a 2.4l in a 1.6/1.8 shell ?

Engineers certificates normally start around the $600 mark and go up from there. It depends on the number of mods and the complexity of those mods. For a basic engine conversion you'd budget $600-700 to be on the safe side.

K24 swap can get expensive....easy 12k+++ to do eveyrthnig running right.
Don't see why it can't be engineered, as long everything is up to specs i.e brakes and suspension then it should be ok.

be interesting to see an average price of a K swap , and then a k24 etc.
Compared to a B series swap its really a nuts increase lol.

just even more reason right now to get rid of what i got and start the new one.
as a list of defects was just passed into my hands.
nice.
1.no standard air cleaner.
2.engineers report for wheels and tyres.
3.vehicle lower than 100mm.
4.muffler missing.
5.both fornt wheels worn on inner edge.
6.rear suspension bush damaged.
7.left high beam inaproiate.
8.front headlights incorrectly fitted.
9.remove light from under front bumper.
so yes.
interesting night.
how does a stock headlight fit incorrectly when they are stock?
lol.
newcastle cops and rta.
LOVE THEM.
5 days of driving left and 21 days before rego suspension when i just rego'd last week.
but anyways back to the k swap.
$12,000 is fine.
better to have engineers certificates and done right then some dodgy backyard attempt.
yeah i got a fair bit aside on top of what i get for mine.
anyways night all thanks for input much appreciated.

what about removing windscreen wipers/washer bottle... demister and heater controls.
Probably wont be able to get a car engineered/roadworthy without a wiper motor/wipers/washer bottle am i correct?
Just curious. I wanna remove all this but might not be able to if i want it road registered.

You need windscreen wipers, some method of washing the windscreen and some form of windscreen demister. You can get electric demisters that are able to be engineered. This allows you to do away with your existing heater setup. Check out some of the boat places.
Here is an example:

Or for a much cheaper alternative:
Use these:

Might have to get one of those things and put the wipers on for street driving. I wanted to delete them
Wish they would allow you to just keep a rag in the glove compartment and use rain X lol

this would be ideal i was searching for a solution to do without the huge heater box in the car so found this on ebay, couldnt find anything else similar anywhere, only prob is you will still have to run the coolant heater hose thru the firewall, but i guess it wil use less power to run (only for the fan, heater is free power - heat from coolant) cos people in the rally side say using the hairdryers was a bit of a hit or miss and sometime drew too much power for the bigger units that actually worked... just some thought...

A visual inspection can sometimes tell if a bush is worn and it is very common for them to wear out on cars of this age. As long as they got under the car and had a GOOD look you could see if some are badly worn. There are ways to check the integrity of them aswell other than visually which for certain parts you would need the car jacked up and a pry bar. IMO its in your best interest to replace these when they're worn and they are only doing you a favour by making you replace them.

if you have enuf interest, and you're serious about doing a K swap, you wouldnt be asking here. all the info you should need is found on honda-tech.com or www.k20a.org (http://www.k20a.org) and www.hybrid-racing.com (http://www.hybrid-racing.com)
nothing more to ask.
