I've always used one remote to unlock my alarm,
but today as I've pissed my mum off she took my car keys to work.
I have a spare set but my brother said using the 2nd set will affect the ecu as its a different remote or frequency or whatever

Is this true?

Um, in the nicest possible way, your brother has no clue.

Alarms are made to unlock cars, i dont think they'd make 2 different sets to open one car =)

actually they do have different remotes, and each remote has a different frequency. Its your alarm that is programmed to recognise your remotes. THat's how you can program an new remote into your alarm, but using either will not affect the alarm nor ecu. Also alarms do not affect your ECU at all. THey only cut power & fuel to the car, other than that they don't affect the workings of the ECU.

THe only reason you use only one remote and leave the other spare is so that if the remote 'drops out' which one of mine did you have a spare. Or incase you loose one.

^^ I guess so, but overall it doesnt affect the ECU. :)

He is not talking about alarms, he talking about ECU's.

And your brother should concentrate on finding a career that doesn't involve motor vehicles.

Funniest call in a while!
