is using a 15w-50 nulon synthetic oil a bad choice for a 96 civic coupe??? the car has done 155 *** kms...would using mobile 1 be a better choice....cause on the nulon website it says to use the 15w-50 for a civic

The manual tells u which viscosity to use.
It is recommended 10W-30.
15W-50 is way too thick for honda engine.

Yeah, too thick man, your engine will not be running at it's full potential!!

I use Motul in my DC2R and in my EG and have always been more than happy with the performance... 60 bux a bottle though :(

you can buy the nulon in 10w30 as well, not a 100% syn oil like the 15w50 you mentioned though.

but why not consider the nulon in between the two ie the 10w40 which is also 100% syn, comes in 5L and 6L bottles. I just picked up a bottle of the 6L today of the 10w40 for our dc2r.

not sure how good this oil is and I've been bit weary of Nulon esp they specialised in additive with big claims of their benefits in the past b4 they ventured into engine oils and coolants. But I thought I give them a try at least once. They claim "32% less friction than other quality engine oils", obviously the definition of quality engine oils could range to anything non recycled new engine oil to the top syn ester based oils.

as for the oil grade, your car specifies a wide range of viscosities so you can try diff oils over the next oil changes to see what suits your engine and your preferences best. For late models VW, BMWs and Mercs they specify only thin oils typically 5w30 and 0w40 grades, long life, approved oils and you can't go thicker or risk engine damage. For my collection of cars I use anything from 5w30 and 0w40 for the thin end to 10w60 for the thick end for me and everything in between; It's horses for courses really.
