Well with my new wheels, it seems the nuts are only on the stud for 5mm if that, and there is about 10mm more thread on the nuts..

I was wondering if anyone knows of any replacement wheel studs that are 10mm - ish longer?

yeah i know of ARP
skunk2 and blox have extended studs too

the problem is that i am using locknuts that u put the key into because the holes in my wheels are so tight

if i get the arp style ones.. they will probably be too long and i wont be able to do the nuts up tight enough :/

Any decent engineering shop could cut them down in a lathe in about 5 min.

well just ordered 20 of the 35mm studs.. seller said that they are 5mm longer than OEM. which should be ok for my needs

now the fun thing will be trying to work out a way to install these as easily and safe as possible

it may be also wise to install new wheel bearings. I have read many mixed opinions on this but I believe it is not the easiest DIY and it would be a good chace to replace your bearings :) I am not 100% sure though.

yeah, most places say if you bash them in, mostly likely your bearings wont last long after..

my car is 17years old so prob a good idea to do the bearings anyway

Brought back from the dead.

Does anyone know if extended studs need spot welding?

Has anyone done extended studs that can shed some more light on spot welding them?

I don't think they require spot welding or any type of welding for that fact.
I did a similar job on a ep hatch and all was required was a press.

Would you know if the ep is running spacers with the extended studs?

i installed my arp studs just yesterday. oem studs r not spot welded. So imo the extended ones do not need to be.

the ep was running somehing like 19" chromes and yes they did have a spacer along with the extended studs.

i have Work CR Kai's on my car with aftermarket nuts and they are fine... it doesnt use all the thread on the nut but i took them of and they are not loose one bit and no unusual wearing!

waste of time in my opinion... however, you may be in a different boat using different wheels and nuts.
