hi guys,
i own a 99 prelude with 40 000km's. i live in cairns - just booked in my 40k service and was quoted $750 from cairns honda!
my car has always been serviced at honda places every 5k km (previous owner lived in bris) so i wann keep up the services by honda.

this seems like a fairly crazy price for 40k service???

What is included in your service? Since it is a 99, you'd be looking at a 96 month (8 year) service, not a 40k service.

well they said 40k service..
40k service is replace:
engine oil
fuel filter
transmission fluid
brake fluids

and inspect:
air cleaner element
valve clearance
drive belts
brakes
only extra thing in 96month service would be inspect brake master cylinder and clutch master cylinder

Well, the transmission fluid is about $120 to change, brake fluid probably about $50-60 and the valve clearance an additional $100 or so. Add these amounts on top of your previous minor service and see if it is reasonable.

i think a $750 on a 40k service on a 99model lude seems reasonable

i paid $595 for my expected or on schedule 40k service on my 05 civic

like aaron said, add all the extra stuff on ur previous minor service

It is a reasonable price, as honda parts are always going to be way more expensive than aftermarket, if you want to save just go to a normal mechanic.

for $750 u should get

replace:
oil + filter
air filter
fuel filter (if due)
brake fluid (if due)
trans fluid

valve clearance adjustment
usual checks etc

even so with what i listed above you should expect no more than around $650 from memory

but yeah with an 8yr car it's hard to quote coz all cars are driven different distances and in different conditions have have different service history.
if you have a decent service history i doubt all things would need to be done
