View Full Version : Car for B18C Swap?
Which would be the lightest car Honda for drag+track but streetable combination? Not just a dedicated drag or track car.
Something that still looks clean. I was thinking an EK, but EG seems to be most popular.
Is there a big weight difference between EK and EG?
My gearbox is gone, but I should be able to recycle the B18C with 5zigen headers/s200/spoon flywheel and exedy hd clutch. Gearbox is gone (collision ripped the mounts and ripped open the box) so I'll prob get ITR with LSD and ATS 4.9.
End result I was thinking semi-stripped, couple recaro's up the front, 2 seater on BC Race Spec dampers with big brakes and the bolt on/tuned B18C. Under 1 tonne would be my goal. But I'm not 100% on what chassis to get.
Does it matter if I pickup a EG or EK auto? Or does it have to be manual?

I weighed my B18c EG5 few weeks back.. 1020kg full interior...
Not sure on backseat weight but im thinking of ripping him out as no one has ever sat on it while ive had the car..

It's streetable if you decide to keep the PS, AC and interior. :)

Than yes it'll be streetable :)
At the moment I'm more curious about chassis. Theres a few AUTO EG's out there, but I don't know if I can use them for this swap.
The EK's are nice, and interior is a tad nicer but I don't know how much they weigh.

back seat weighs bout 4.5kg, there was a civic weightloss guide link floating around sumwhere. should be helpful.
if its goner be a tracking car go with and eg for less costs, EK is only slightly more heavier not that much diff.
if you get an auto it means more work for you.

Yes you can use them for a swap. There is jsut one mount that needs modifying

Thanks mate, what mount is that? Inside the cabin though, won't I need a manual spec cluster and manual interior bits (gearbox surround)?

Thanks man!
A MIRA is a very light shell, that's what you asked for!!
If you don't want people's opinions, then don't ask questions on a forum.
Come on, it's not like ur thread was spammed or anything, just a few people seeing the lighter side of the question, GET OVER IT!

apparently someone didn't read the question
iirc the ek weight with full interior is about 1115-1140kg
really depends on what your personal taste is though, can't go wrong with either

Thanks buddy, I don't mind the EG or EK. EK is a touch newer inside so might be better as daily. But both will do the JDM look pretty easily.
I might start up a thread in Civic regarding the exact difference between EG and EK.
Thanks again folks

could always update the interior with dc2 items ;)
at the end of the day the ek will cost more to buy since they start at about $8k while you could pickup an eg for about half of that
