66 sec on sprint track (wet) in stock DC2R with super streets.
+ having semi's worn to the wires
+ first time on track

Is this good? And how much time could you say a wet track would add to your time?

speed core? when did you do that time?
just wondering...

Dec 04' SAS. Did about 6-7 61.8s with the quickest being 61.81 from memory.

The wednesday previous to that I was at a general practice and had the missus timming me, was getting 61.8s also, BUT.... I took it with a grain of saly till I actually replicated it numerous times on official timed day.

Did not notice you guys where putting in engines. This was a standard EK4 with the previous mentioned mods, so B16.

Just remembered some drag racing tables and thought it was good information to add to the tables ...

Not saying it's not possible but 61 in an EK with only a B16 seems insanely quick ... do you still have the timing slips for these runs ?

macoman69
03-12-2007, 12:23 PM
Not really. I remember Rob getting 59's in the CRX (B16) before getting the B20 put in.

So with the right suspension, weight reductions, brakes, tires and driver it actually seems quite possible.

SPEEDCORE
03-12-2007, 12:25 PM
Heh.... here we go. Unfortunately I don't.

I'm sure the regulars that where out there back then will post responses in support of my claims. :)

Weight reduciton was tyre/jack and parcel shelf, yes full interior.

vtec>turbo
03-12-2007, 12:35 PM
Yeah SPEEDCORE did those times, in a bashed up EK with full interior.

I got a 65.14 in a stock (bar swaybars) 4th gen prelude back in the beginning of 07.

I can vouch that too. That was my 3th or 4th time on QR and i was in his group at the time and i did 63 on my integra vti-r which only have endless SSS pads and cat-back. Still using GIII and full interior except jack and spare wheel.

John(QR boss) told me if the track is fully wet then maybe 1.5 secs, if it's not really wet then it will be less than 1 sec difference.

The fastest DC2R with completely stock everything did 63.3 i believe, forgot who did it but it was in wed sprint back in 04. Lots of people did really good times with full interior and light bolt on mods. Wonder where they went

When you say forums, I remembered a guy who driven a mini cooper s, fully stripped interior, JCW almost everything and bah bah bah, trying to argue that his car is a dead stock factory car since everything comes from BMW. And speedcore's car is "fully modded" cos he has "aftermarket" parts.

In this case we could call the following stock cars:
spoon eg6, dc2r, dc5r, ap1, even b20, k20, k24 swaps
mazdaspeed rx7, rx8
nismo gtr

well done Jamie, Steven here.

1st time out in a civic and do a 62 sec lap. That's fantastic! With practice you can get under 60s for sure.

Speedcore was superfast back in 04' days, there were couple of hondas back in the days that were setting the times.

Speedcore Ek4 61.8
Jonny's HRV 65 or 66 flat?
Tony's Jazz 65 flat i think.
Spoondc2 was doing 63s.
Centrax DC5 was in the 60s.

can also add my time in the accord euro lux. 62.99 LOL

Good old honda days!

yeah you might be able to go faster with a bigger engine, who cares......try going faster with what you've got. you get a much bigger feeling of achievement when the only thing that is changed is you and you are able to go faster.

To race there you have to have a fully registered car that passes respective sound level tests i believe.

Having said that, my mates e30 bmw managed to pass and its hella loud.

What DB levels? Looks like open headers are out of the question. haha

Alexx
03-06-2008, 01:07 PM
it seems to be 92.2dB

Your car will have to pass two sound tests; one static and one active. The static test will be carried out in a specified area and will require the engine to be taken to 5000 RPM and held for 5 seconds. A measurement with a calibrated sound level meter will be taken 8 metres behind the car and the reading MUST be under 92.2 dB(A).

source (http://www.rx8club.com/archive/index.php/t-144514.html)

so yea, open headers are probably out haha

Lakeside Raceway has re-open and I have the privilege of racing on it in April and soon again this coming Queens Birthday holiday. It is truly a beautiful track and sooooo much better (but not as forgiving) than QR. The place itself is in a dire state but I heard from the management that the whole track will be re-surfaced again later this year.

I was bloody nervious during my 1st session out there but was driving faster as I familiarise myself with the track. Managed to score a pb of 67:05 sec (hand timed) :) It suits the DC2R very well and i was running Federals 595RS-R.

By the way, the management is VERY strict on the 92db limit. One GTR and RX7 FC were banned from driving for the rest of the day because they were too loud.

If you're looking for a loop hole to go to Lakeside, there ain't one. They only care about peak noise, not the standard test. But 92.2dB is lower than what is street legal (95dB if memory serves me correct).

Great time. No eg out this time?

Was a pretty good day for us too. Dave (turtleek1) got a new pb (but almost left his alternator on the track doing it ;) ). I got mine down to 66.02 and Chris_F got out there in his euro for the first time (and kicked ass). I'll let them put their times up if they want.

Heard there was a strong Honda presents out this time

Wish I could of been there to play but I had a wedding to attend to and am looking at retirement to buy some property.

The EG will probably be on sale once I get settled into a place, but I will still be out there regularly to support Team Cheeby and the rest of the H-runners

I will still maintain this thread and I may also pick up the camera again to take some shots for all

Thanks for all the support and encouragement guys I was pretty happy with a 67.2 first effort. Actually I was pretty happy with the whole experience as you could probably tell. Hopefully I'm out again on november 29. I still got a lot to learn with braking points and getting the right line through the second S bend is pretty tricky.

65.8 dave, awesome stuff! I didn't realise you got into the 65's. Thats an impressive time on street tires (goodyear eagle f1's). You'd be in the low 60's for sure with a set of semis

I wonder if a CB accord has ever gone faster around the sprint track, anyone know? A 66.02 on street tires (bridgestone Re001) is a good effort either way man.

There's two euro's other than mine that have done the sprints that I know of. Mattell (Mat) with a best time of 64 seconds (semis) and Baboo (Steve) with a best time of 62.9 seconds (semis).

Steve, now owns a blue R34 GTR that laps in the 57 second range on the sprint track. The last time he was out on the track with his euro would have been at least 2 years ago now.

Does anyone know the best time a CB Accord has ever done around the sprint track? My guess is Cam (Eclipsor) would be right up there with a 66.02.

Correct.

When the time was set the car was street registered.

Going to be interesting this year as I think a few cars and drivers will have the goods to shuffle the top ten around quiet a fair bit ...

I'm not guaranteeing my time to stay there for much longer either but as I am in need to sell the car; retired and new missus I won't be able to improve on it :)

You start doing that... then the question of roll cages and stripped interiors etc etc will come into play..... your call.

These are not really why I've asked the previous question as 4 cars have stripped interiors and three cars on the list have roll cages; that I know of.

These modifications are street legal when engineered; mine are certified by an engineer as I still drive my car daily on the street.

The question is really about the possibility of adding the times of the cars such as the S2000's and the NSX; CRV's as well driven by Stephen and his crazy gang :p where a lot of S2000's are capable of going close to 60 and one has gone sub 60, an NSX twin turbo recently has gone 58 seconds as well.

But I think I will make a special group for them as the potential of the S2000 is to go much faster as it's RWD and the NSX of course is just in a totally different class to it's FWD cousins.

Sure if you want to be wearing hearing aids and have arms as big as andre the giant. Then bring on the lower back pain and body vibrations. Then there is the added comfort of engine bay heat. 110khm = 4200rpm.

is there alot of tracktime at these sprints?

Start at around 1pm and finish around 4 - 4.30pm

3 session with a 4th generally given if there are no major down times on the track, which consists of 7 laps each; one warn up, 5 timed flying laps, 1 cool down.

the track itself is no wear near as fun as Wakefield or Oran Park is thou.

Cancelled my entry for today. Judging by the amount of rain we've had, my car's going to need floaties to get through the dippers! It's the 3rd time this year I've cancelled going out because of weather!

Oh well... bring on May 23rd!
