Gday guys

Currnetly my poor car is sitting on stands and i have Tein Flex Coilovers + ITR controll arms to go in. Unfortunately all the instructions are in Japanese. So is there anything initial that should be done before putting them in. iI have noticed the coilovers came with a can of anti-rust spray. Anywhere i should / shouldnt spray this? im guess just all over the threds and lock rings?

Also is there any trick to getting all the heights even all round? does anything usually have to be setup with the rebound of the springs (lock ring that holds the spring in place)

Any hidden problems i should know about before i go on with the install?

Apologies if this seems abit noob, but never run a coilover system before, and these did cost me a fair bit.

thanks thats all i can think of.

Regards Lyle

you got to install first ~ and make alterations to height after.

Put the FRONT pair on the same height (measure the bottom of the thread for eaxmple) and make the REAR pair the same as well.
Install 100% , and go check your car on FLAT ground. If the gaps are too big /small just jack up that corner and slide the perch up or down.
When adjusting , apply a decent amount of WD40 or similar to help with the motions

Unsure the correct way to adjust heigh, shown the the thred you can either Wind UP the bottom mounts that attach to the controll arms or wind down the lock ring under the spring.

What is the correct way to do it?

Looking at the setup i would say that wonding up the bottom mounts would be your major adjustment height set and use the other set underneath the coil as a minor for adjustment like correcting ride height

Becuase looking at them if you just used the ones underneath the coil spring to adjust how much lower the car sits you would be limiting the piston travel of the strut and be closer to bottomin on the bump stops if any. I think you would want as much piston travel you get.

and as for main height hieght set you may lke them as the are now after installing them or may require to remove and adjust a few threads/turns.

I know that East Coast Suspension in Sutherland are experts in suspension they do alot of race stuff and work with tein equipment.Maybe give them a call during the day around lunch when they maybe not so busy and ask nicely for some advice. http://www.eastcoastsuspensions.com.au/

Undo the last/bottom ring and turn the tube casing to your prefered height then use the ring to lock it in place. With the 2 top rings, just make sure its only wound up just to to hold the spring firmly. Spin it till it touches the spring then probably another 1-2 full turns.

The D2 Coilovers are very similar, well, at least in principal.
They've got pretty good instructions found here.

Pardon the english though.

Your other best friend in doing this is a tape measure, pencil and paper - Measure and ensure correct lenghts throughout.
I have always coated the threads with an anti sieze - as the suspensions are exposed to elements.
To protect from stone chips, I cable tie a thickish plastic sheet over the bottom half of the coilover.
