Thanks Chris.

800 grit or 1000 grit if you want a perfect finish maybe 2000grit but its not worth the extra time in my opinion.

Get a can of black paint and spray it very lightly from a distance of about 50cm, this should leave a light coat, in the trade they call it a guide coat, then sand it back until the black has gone.

Just like this image

Could i spray the proper coat myself or should it be professionaly done?

80% of painters job is in preparation, and they all say the same thing "If you can piss you can paint" but after the few attempts i had i realized they are all lying!

Give it go on something else first, but its not as easy as the pro's say it is, and when they would probably only charge you $50 i would just pay them.

If you look at your Chassis plate it will have your color code on there

something like

Color - ES1

Just an example
