Sort of

Where does the clutch catch? when the pedal is almost all the way out or not

does it feel spongy or slip when you change gears?

The catch point really doesn't indicate whether yoy need to change it, you may find if it is on the end of the pedal, a simple adjustment will be good for another 50 000k's.

Slipping between gear changes and on take off is the big indicator.
If you don't know what that means, it is when the revs climb, but the speed does not as quickly as it should, you will know it when you feel it!!

thats why i said it, to determine if he needs a clutch or just an adjustment.
