Can you use a Hondata S100 that was from a D16 for a B18 if it is retuned ?

and for this

Hondata OBD1 Replacement ECU with OBD1 Connector + the cost of either a s100, s200 or s300.
$550.00

Hondata OBD2ab Replacement ECU (for 1996 to 1999) + the cost of either a s100, s200 or s300.
$650.00

Does that mean i can keep my stock ECU, and they chip it with I.e. Hondata S100 for only $285 ?
Im just abit confused with how all this works....

Yes you can use the S100 from a D16 for a b18c but you will need to get a new tune.

Alot of people get confused with how hondata is priced. That $285 price is for the hondata 'CHIP' only. You will still need an OBD1 P28/P30/P06 ECU and also pay a chipping fee.

So if your ECU is one of the above and OBD1 then yes you can use it.

Yea its kind of confusing...
thats where i was also stuck, do i need OBD1, because i always though you did, but then it says

Hondata OBD2ab Replacment ECU + the cost of either a s100, s200 or s300.

Why would you want a Hondata OBD2ab Replacment ECU if its non-compatible with OBD2 ??

because you need a OBD1 ECU to chip and your current obd2 will not allow chipping. So you need a complete replacement + a conversion harness.
If you have OBD1 they usually give you the kit and you do your own conversion or pay for your own ECU to be converted

Just think of it as an OBD1 ECU with a conversion harness built in.

K so i do need P28 (best option i guess)
Then i have to send it to Hondata to get chipped

Then i need a OBD2 -> OBD1 conversion harness, then take it for a tune

You dont need to send it to hondata to get it chipped. There are people in aus that can chip it for you.

And like you said, conversion harness and tune.

Sure am.

So i can just take a OBD1 ECU in to them, and they will chip it with hondata S100 (most likely what im going to get).

Then conversion harness, and get them to tune it for me and im all set.

Thanks for your help guys

Yes, as SLOWEGG said the Hondata pricing is confusing. So is the $285 chip pre-tuned rich and safe so the car can be driven until proper tuning is done?. Is the "chipping" fee what you pay to have the chip soldered into the ecu?

Pricing for Hondata is here

http://www.hondatech.com.au/forum/showthread.php?p=3072#post3072

Its all very clear as the prices include the product, installation and tuning so a drive in drive out package, very smart.
