Hi Guys,

Hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction...

I have an issue with my 2002 Type R where I get engine vibration and the whole car seems to shake around the 100km/hr mark, especially when under load up hills etc. When lifting my foot off the accelerator, the vibrating stops immediately.

I had my local Honda dealer look at it, and they said its just wheel alignment issues, which I had checked and is all fine. There is no vibration feedback in the steering wheel, its seems to be engine related to me (im not an educated car guy.. I just know what looks good and drives nice... sorry).

Can anyone point me in the right direction of where I should be looking, or alternatively a good Honda shop in Adelaide that might be able to help me?

Thanks,
Mark

could be your engine mounts

if u have got your wheels aligned then it wouldn't be that. unless does the steering drift left or right heaps?

check that your engine mount neer your p/S isnt broken. most common mount broken for dc5

thanks for the replies.. i will check out the engine mounts (when i figure out where they are!).

I had the wheel balance and alignment done when it was suggested by my Honda dealer, and the car drives straight, so that shouldnt be the problem.

Thanks for this.. I missed this entire thread when searching :( The problem sounds very very similar to mine, so I will have this checked out.

Does anyone know a good place in Adelaide where I would be able to take my car for this?

could it be a cv joint?

reason i say the cvs is we used to have a rodeo at work and it did the same thing at 100kms it used to vibrate but u slow down or back off the throttle and it would b fine....

Hi markmill.

How many Kms has your Type R done?

I would be willing to bet 99.9% that It's engine mounts, based on your description, especially when going up a hill - considering the engine is on a slight tilt.

My friend had a similar problem with his 'R, but his was exacerbated by the fact that he modified the engine quite alot, and therefore the problem showed up more often.

We took his car to Nordic, bought a set of Mugen engine mounts, and had them put the new mounts in - fixed the problem first go!

I hope that helps! D.

i would go down d&d motors. they put together a turbod s2000 pushing out a lot of power. also just finish a gtr with 412kwatw with 950nm torque and thats tune for running in. very cheap there too

Hi All,

Just letting you know that the problem was the driveshafts. The guys at SA Suspension finally had time to get it fixed up a week or two ago, and since then the car has been driving like a dream again.

A tad expensive to get them refurbished, but otherwise I am not once again a happy driver!

yeah, apparently. im not much of a car expert, so not sure exactly what was wrong. but they said they needed to rebuild them. I just took their word for it, and around $700 later have a car that drives properly again.

Sorry cant give a proper answer to this :(

I just checked the invoice.. it says:

Rebuild inner new outer cv joint

They did both sides.

Howdy.. its Nighthawk black. I live in the inner Western suburbs, and drive it daily all the way down South Road out towards Salisbury way. :)
