Hi all,

Thinking 17" with 205/45 or 205/40. Some1 said don't go 215 cos will scrach the guards. then this ther guy has 205/40 and he says they scratch his guards also... so how r u guys finding ur rubber? scratching guards? no? negative camber to fix it?

there r heaps of civics with 17's...i wonder what i should get then... :(

I bought 16x7 with 205/45

I think they are the perfect size for civics

i have 2.5" lowered springs and 205 45 16's atm.
Im just on the right height with only minor rubbing on the front guards if i crank it hard around a corner.

Yes this is a good setup.

Anythin wider than this and if you lower it you will get guard rubbing.

there is no problem with 17" rims with 205/40's at all, on stock springs. you start having problems when you lower the car...

im on 17' with 205/40's and lowered 2"... they scrub once in a while.. nothing major but....

18" with 215/35... not very practical, but it looks nice... i dont really drive the car hard, its not much of a top end performer anyway...

my friend's have 18 with 215/35 with rolled guards and have no problems at all. so i really think 17' 205 will be ok.

i should get 17"x7 +43 with 205/40s...what abt 215/45? what if i get springs that have a 2 finger gap ( i don't know how many inches that is) between the tyres and the guards?

sheesh...this is harder than i thought!

i have the same problem as Taxi-R.
i have a EK1 sedan and i'm looking at upgrading to 17"x7 G-Max super lightweight rims with 205/40 tyres, but i'm not to sure.
i currently have 205/45-16 on the car, and tossing up between change the tyres and rims to the G-Max lightweights or keeping the 16's.

what did u do Taxi-R?

Just FYI, I have 17x7 offset +35 with 215/40/r17 and tyres is just tucked under guards, it scrubs hard when I turn and especially when there's 2 or more ppl lol.

I'm aiming to change to 205/40, hope that dramatically reduces, if not eliminates scrubbing.

I have 15"s on my EK and I think they look sweet, better for handling too I would think.
15 x 50 x 205 tyres on there

205s are fine depending on the offset of the rims.

I've currently got 205/40/17 with offset of either 40 or 42, and am about to buy Tein SS coilovers....im going to lower between 1.5" - 2". Should this be fine? or will i get scrubbing?

From Best Motoring ( ;) ), the Esprit EK9 runs the following:

Front: 225/40R16
Rear: 205/50R15

Rubber: Bridgestone 540S (Esprit), Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R (my
recommendation, if you can source them)

cheers

As others have said - it depends on offset and ride height.

16x7 are best for EK4/EM1 for the performance but if u got an EK1 then might as well get larger ones like 17-18 to make it look good cos perfomance wheels arent gonna do u much good

i've got 215/45/17 on my rears and lowered around 3.5 inches
not really any problems with it.. unless i got a full car it scrubs when cornering hard and when i hit bumps..

would probably go for 205/40 though..

my girlfriend has 15's on her car and i recon they look sweet... 16 is the upper limit for wheel size for ek's IMO if your worried about performance that is. For that showy look 17's or 18's is the max i'd go... 19's if your just plain crazy!:p

i just got 215/35r19... its the wrong offset but the back is lowered 3-4" and front around 2-3", did a bit of modifying but theres minimal scrubbing considering how big they are, btw its a 96 sedan....

heres a pic, doesn't do it justice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bling all the way!!!!!!!!!!!1
