ok, well wen i was getting my aftermarket alarm installed. The person asked if i wanted my door to automatic lock itself wen i step on the brakes (ek model)

I declined but starting to think that it is a safer option from the drunks n car jackers and wat now.

anyone know any ideas on how i can do this. Since the alarm is already installed i guess the hard part is already done

If it was a proper installation, then it should be connected and just not activated in the settings.
There may be a chapter on it in ur nmanual, or just go back to where you had it installed and get it activated!

IMO this is a bad feature, as it may obstruct someone from getting you out of the car, say (forbid it ever happened) you stack the car and are knocked unconscious!
Maybe in South Africa or somewhere, but how often have you heard of anyonone being carjacked in Aus?

You can always lock it yourself if you are in a dodgy neighbourhood, but seriously, if someone tries to jack you, they will most likely be carrying a blunt object that would make short work of ur window in a second anyway!

my gf has this in her car. Once you start the car and all the doors are closed when you press on the brake it locks all door. I think there is an option which can turn on and off, not 100% look at your manual. Its a anti-jacking mechanism.
Most cars have it on a timer system(mongoose alarms & rhinos), which can be deactivated.

It doesn't hurt cos people in the car can always unlock to open

...yeah, but what if all the ppl in ur car are knocked out or incapacitated in an accident?? What happens then?

Oh yeah, i had one hooked to the breaks on my old car, that's ok, got it diabled, but the stinger alarm in my teg is on a timer.
It means potentially if you start the car, then walk off and the door shuts, you can lock ur keys in with the car running!! Good thinking stinger!!
It's habit to wind my window down now, solves the problem!!

The timers should only be used when the car door is closed, the alarm is deactived, and the cabin trigger isn't released within a prescribed period. The alarm will then re-engage.

If you open a door; thus releasing the cabin trigger, the timer is disengaged. The car will not automatically lock itself. meaning. You will not lock your own keys inside.

Yeah, but say i'm leaving work and i fire over my car from outside while i'm talking to someone, then close the door, that's it, locked out!

My exhaust guy did it to me, but luckily the passenger side window as open, all i am saying is there are scenarios where it is possible with this sort of system!

1) if your all knocked out in the car you've prob had a pretty bad accident, and then they usually break in the windows.

2) as above. It only works with the timer one when you start the car with the driver's door closed. It will lock on timer when all the other doors close it will lock in 30sec or so. If your not sure try it with the spare set

1) That is what i am getting at, anyway, point is that when the authorities get to a scene of an accident, the easier it is to get people out of a potentially volatile vehicle, the better and locked doors would hinder that!
They would only break a window if they had to!
Say you are out cold and ur head is sitting against the window, then they would have to go around and smash another window! it would be so much easier to just open the door!!

2) I understand that, but i am saying that the potential is still there to lock the keys in, i just feel that if you are going to have this feature, then it is better if it's triggered by the break pedal!

This is my own experience, please don't follow it, if you are not sure with it.

There is an orange color wire comes from the alarm and you just have to connect it to your foot brake switch. once you step on the foot brake, it will have 12V+, and it gives signal to the Alarm to lock the doors.

Remember the orange wires is from the small plug, as there are another two orange wires from the large plug.

you could always install a toggle switch on the brake light feed to the alarm so the the feature can be enable/disable as you wish.

find out what sort of alarm it is 1st, some of us might know how to enable/disble the alarm's auto door locking feature.

sorry for the hijack, but does anyone know how to wire up the rhino RAv2 central locking for an eg hatch? ive got an extra door solenoid for it too?
Just cant get the 6 wires to work, (LOCKNO, UNLOCKNO, LOCKCOM, UNLOCKCOM, forgot the other 2)

you need to wire up a pair of latching relays ie the 87/87a type and use the negative pulse outputs from your alarm module which in your case should be LOCKCOM + UNLOCKCOM. The 2 qty output wires from the relay pair would supply the +12v and GND to your door lock solenoid and its reverse polarity for the lock and unlock motions.

just hookup as per my diagram and it should all work. The other outputs ie unlock/lock NO (normally open ) and unlock/lock NC ( normally closed ) are not used in your case, they are meant for other setups eg in Merc factory central locking where a elec pump is used to actuate the door look instead of the elec door solenoid as in your case.

hook up the relay output wires to the blue wire and green wire of your door solenoid if there are more than 2 wires on it. If you alarm unlocks the door when armed and locks your door while disarmed; simply swap the blue and green wires around to reverse the situation.
