Hi every1.

I am in the process of gathering all i need to swap some CTR cams and valve springs into my B16a. I have got the VRS rebuild kit on order as well. My friend's dad who is a gd mechanic who is very much into motorbike, told me that while swapping the cams n valve spring, he mentioned about getting the valves cut or trimmed or degreed to a certain angle, that will maxmise more power or allow better performance from the engine.

May i know if such a process exist and any1 try it and is it beneficial? I am considering doing it as well. haha i am noob so pls help me. Also, will this process cause any harm to engine etc?

Cheers ppl.

gd info claymore. But isit possible to be done by a gd mechanic with hand tools? Or isit strictly machined? I heard my friend's dad said he might have the correct hand tools. He is good so i trust him but does it make sense? Cheers.

agreed.no way can it be done even close to accurately with hand tools,we are talking about grinding away hundredths of millimitres here, needs to be machined by a reputable machinist.

My b16 has CTR cams, valve springs, and a 3 angle valve seat grind (requires head to be removed to machine the seats where the valves seal into the combustion chamber).

Think of it as,normally your valves are one slope, gettuing air in and then air out of the engine.by 'cutting' them, in my case a 3 angle cut,you can alter the slope that the air travels at 3 points, therefore giving it a smoother curve to follow into the engine, allowing the engine to 'breathe' better, increasing response and power.A worthwhile modification.
For track cars at constant high rpm, some wear can be caused to the surface that has been cut itself, but for yours (and most peoples) application there is no downside.

Dont let that handtool butcher near your head, getting the measurements off by the slightest amount will cause big trouble for your engine and tuning it.

wooo.. gd info again. I would make sure its machine work then no Hand TOOLS!!! anyway u get some noticable gains for ur b16 after CTR cams, valve springs and valve job??? Haha i following same path. Recommended???
