View Full Version : Motul Xcess 8100 - C Clean (c3)
anyone used these in their B series? i accidently got these instead of the normal xcess 8100 5w40
i read on the back and it says it has less suphur etc and its compatible for deisel and gasoline euro cars and bmw n VW. and some pre 2005 engines
so would i damage my engine if i used this or what?
i wanna know before i pour this stuff in.

lol yea i was goin to say too
think ill pm him
here is something i find
he high HTHS formulas are for HIGH protection, EXtended drain intervals. They will be labelled with an X-???? Example: 8100 X-cess 5W40
To meet the high HTHS an oil must keep a constant viscosity from 100 degrees C up to 150 degrees C
so guess X-clean is can maintain the high revs and degrees but i duno wtf is C3 and A5/B5 . what are our b18 engines categorise as?
i find this
duno xactly how to read it

Sorry, was away because I was moving to Sydney. I got your PM, EK4R.
You can use the X-clean with no problems at all. It meets ACEA A3 which is for high performance petrol engines (same as the X-cess), meets API SM (X-cess only met SL because it was tested when there was no SM yet), which is the current standard for new oils and it is 5w-40, which can be used in the B16A just like the X-cess.
I found the 8100 X-cess getting gummy (when drained, it looked like thick oil, probably couldn't handle the track day) and the engine was rough. I switched back to Castrol Edge 0w-40 which I had used before on the track as well (another SM-equivalent oil, but not certified by API) and everything is smooth again. When I was using the Edge, I remember that the engine was still running smoothly after the trackday. I'll give the X-clean a try at my next service to see if it is improved over the X-cess. Where did you buy it from?
hey aaronng thx for the reply. so its safe? cool cos i thought if was in a different category from x-cess looking at the above graphs. but it is in the MIDDLE SAPS category instead of HIGH SAPS? should i be worried about that?
i got it from autobarn in doncaster. its around 78 bux

SAPS = Sulphated Ash, Phosphorus and Sulphur.
They are additives used to increase TBN and to increase protection. But new engines with special pre-cats and/or with components sensitive to these additives need the mid and low SAPS oils. I think what they do is improve the base oil to compensate for the reduction in SAPS content or replace the SAPS with other additives.
Also, these oils are used for diesel engines (hence the ACEA B3/B4/B5 certification) and that is where the SAPS level is more critical because of the additional particulate filters in the newer diesel engines.
so do x-clean give more protection compare to x-cess then? and since they have reduced SAPS would that mean less protection compare to x-cess or no because the oil is of better quality
i have a old engine b18c so obivously high SAPS isnt a problem with it. protection is my main priority
just worried

For the street, they will both provide adequate protection. If people can rely on Honda FEO for their B series, you can surely rely on 8100 x-cess and x-clean to meet or exceed FEO protection.
well i want to be over convinced :D want the best for my car. im sure u know wat its like claymore.
anyways cheers up closed.
REP IT UP for the helpz guys
