first question: are you insured?
second question: how did it happen? and were you at fault?
third question: was another car involved or did you hit something?

then people can offer you advice.

Sorry, should have mentioned those things.. Yep, am insured (if you don't insure your car, whats the point!)

Was coming out the work car-park, turning right, had 2 lanes of oncoming traffic from the right - there was a big gap so I went like any other day, and a guy in the ute-type thing that hit me, was changing lanes behind another van, me and my mate in the car had no chance to spot him - bit unfortunate really.

So I have a few options: 1. (doubtful) may be repaired. 2. Write off - but buy the car back if it's cheap enough. 3. Write off - but dont buy the car back and use the 19 - 21g I wil get to find a new 'R.

I've driven lots of type R's, and nearly all of them at stock-standard have felt exactly the same. So hopefully one will pop up like this one did if I become on the market for another.

Cheers, D.

^^^sorry mate your at fault. L's books dictate that you can't turn out of a driveway unless the road is clear on all lanes for this exact reason. this exact scenario comes up on the computer P plate test too so I don't know why people do it...

but yeah take the time to strip it as it is more profitable in the long run. keep the car covered though or out of sight of council workers (ie garbos)... if you get reported to have "junk" like a wrecked car in front of your house too long it's like a $600 fine.

dude if they try to fix your car tell them to stick it...

that aint repairable... it'll be deemed a repairable write off

dsp26
13-12-2007, 07:51 AM
^^^yep... no matter how good the repair.. it won't feel like a type r

steve88
13-12-2007, 12:20 PM
curiously. why do people say it just "doesnt feel right" anymore?? i mean the my car got sandwiched and i didnt notice any thing after the repair

Zilli
13-12-2007, 12:22 PM
the car begins to feel loose... rattles and noises when there shouldnt be... things like that

steve88
13-12-2007, 01:08 PM
that due to the shell being dented and they really cant just pull it back or reweld a non damaged pillar?

dsp26
13-12-2007, 01:12 PM
no matter how good the repair, they will never be able to pull/hammer whatever back to it's perfect state from factory... causing all those rattles & loose bits etc....

Wow, thanks for all the replies guys, really appreciate the feedback.

Still haven't heard back from the assessors, looks like another wasted, unproductive day.

But I did manage to get down there and grab all my gear from the car, and the lady there said you can bet on a write off.

So anyone got an awesome, clean, no dents whatsoever, complete with floormats, rear strut brace DC2R they're looking to sell? :)

Cheers, D.

Get the payout money and buy a new one.
You did insure it for the correct market value right?

Spoon DA9R
13-12-2007, 05:59 PM
u mean agreed value?

market value of a dc2r is 16k atm....if its still that

Glitta
13-12-2007, 07:07 PM
I would buy it back off your insurance company, then sell it damaged with rego.. You will get a fair bit more then what they will give it to you for selling it private damaged...

In fact I know some people that would be interested so drop me a PM when your insurance gets back to you... if that's what you deceide to do.

Hey all, cheers again for all the feedback!

I'll be getting alot more than 16K - closer to 19K (In fact I think it's 18,900) but if the car is cheap enough, I will definitely buy it back, and sell off the parts one by one.

Hopefully, they'll ring me back sooner rather than later tomorrow and I can finally have some closure!

Cheers, D.

whats your location?

how many km's did your type R have?

Hi!

Well, I's definitely a write-off. But they haven't specified about the wreck just yet, but i'm pretty sure i'll buy it, and either sell the parts, *********Edit

The 'R had 91000 K's, serviced every 5000, not a scratch on her.
