ok i just want a 2 sided argument over this so i also placed one in the integra forum too.

i was wondering if a honda accord euro AUTO vs a honda integra DC5 AUTO...who would win? both stock, both in D, in a 400m sprint or maybe a sprint from the lights from stand still?

According to Wheels Magazine the DC5 **MANUAL** with 118kw (1160kg) can do 0-100 in 8.7 seconds. The auto DC5 weighs 30kg more (1190kg). You would think the auto box would be a minimum of 1 second slower than the Wheels manual time - so probably 0-100 in around 9.7 seconds.

The Wheels Magazine figures for the Auto Euro Luxury 0-100 is 9.4 seconds (1470kg). The standard Euro auto model is slightly faster as it is 45kg lighter - so say 9.3 seconds for that model auto.

You may find faster times out there than this - this is Wheels Magazine testing which should be the same equipment and testing method for both cars - with 1 passenger.

My tip is the Auto Euro to 100kp/h by a nose

All these years of reading Wheels, Motor magazines alike.. they can't drive for S**TS... They love their V8s only... The only car that they rave about it the DC2 R and the Euro..

And I don't know how they drive, their performance results are waaaaay inferior to the other countries' performance test.. Ok one small factor is the fuel, but that's about it....

Anyway back to the race topic... :) I'd say the Euro will win by half a body length on tip shifting.... :D

But the Euro is JDM, and JDM is always better :p

Hum, I reckon the 5spd tiptronic is a big advantage over the DC5 gearbox for sure.

I think the Euro will win with VSA off and brake to the metal launch :D

but the dc5 has that same 5spd tiptronic...

any reason you asked this question integraz?

guess no one can really answer your question except magazines and real life encounters. the answers here are guesstimates. you best to write to the major Aussie car mags and get them to do a comparison instead. in fact..do us all a favour and do that! :p

The Euro may only be a 4 cylinder, but it is also 2.4 litre, hell it beats most V6's anyway, I can vouch for that ! I have beat V6 commodores off the mark and up to 100k's in my Euro ! And it doesn't suck up fuel like the 6's either ! The 2.4 litre V-tec sure is a nice engine!

The Accord Euros are built in Japan, The American designed Accords (with the V6 Variants) are built in Thailand :)

Tofu

it was pretty close...
the difference is the weight and the gear ratio..
but it's still scary how fast they can be..they don't look it

the teg has a closer 4.2 final gear for better exceleration. it would be close, but depends on the driver I feel.

Why buy an auto??? get a manual and learn how to drive!!!! Ha!

i dont think an auto euro can beat a v6 commidore??? well the new one

v6 commidore would beat the dc5 most of the time because of its initial start due to the torque they have..

i have a fto gpx, dc5 and just bought euro luxury recently

and can say that dc5 and euro cannot beat new standard commi....

my fto gpx can just keep up with the super charge commondore

dc5 and euro....dc5 just beats the euro by a bit maybe due to its weights

I saw a comparison of 0-400m times of all the Commodore and Falcon variants. I think it was in one of the recent Wheels or Motor. If a 6mt Euro does 15.2 seconds for 0-400m, then it beats all the NA V6 models.

hnm738, what is a standard FTO`s 0-400m? Also, about 90% of FTOs were tiptronic, right?

hnm738

auto tiptronic ftos are low 15s i'd say

i did a run with a manual dc5 (had muffler and air)

i had someone in the car and sub went to 140km off the lights

and dc5 was 1 car length behind ( on my rear bumper)

i was surprise to see manual dc5 do that because my dc5 tip is alot slower,,, probably being new with better gear ratio 5 speed where as my tiptronic is only 4

everytime the dc5 changes gears it pulls on to me and falls behind but its good to see how it can pull up to half of my car in every gear but then falls behind

i've never been on a euro 6 speed but from reading the forum it seems the manual are alot faster than the auto euro

I think the weight advantage of the FTO will give it an edge against the auto euro. But against a 6MT, neither the MT SV6 nor the supercharge can keep up. Just found that the VY supercharged commodore had 171kW, compared to the current 190kW V6 engine.

Reviews that I have read say that a brutal launch is required by the SV6 to go below 8 seconds for 0-100km/h. Sounds like a case of wrx again.
