Avg Prices for Various Mods

Hey people,

soon to be a owner of a completey stock standard integra Gsi. and I want do some basic mod's that most young 'cool dudes' like myself like to do :cool:

basically trying to achieve a 'finanical layout' call it if you will, of costs of all this stuff before i go out & purchase the a car stock as rock.

heres a list of things i would love feedback on price wise.

Stereo (amp+sub+tuner+6's_fnt&back): $1500

Mags (17's, chrome new or 2nd hand w/ tyres) :$1000 2nd hand / $2000 new

Exhaust: have no idea. whats a low to midrange system going to cost? (dont care for performance, just want a nice sporty note, medium quality) $???? ($500? sound average????? total guess..)

Lowering/Springs $400-500 sound right? ozzy tyres special atm.?

Tints: $300

Illumi Gauges: $300?

and Pod Filter $80 + extractors down the line $?????

So if you can take my Red text as a guide, and put your prices as I kinda tryed to do, that would be awesome, cause this is the best place to ask am I right, do yo thing peepz, cant wait to see your advice!

(PS: Total = $5000-5500) looks like what all this stuff will cost to the car on mods alone, does that sound too much, or is this what most people spend on their rides to do all these things???) THANKS ALL. PEACE.

Exhaust system will cost you around $500 or so for a custom jobbie from a local exhaust shop. Lowering by springs alone shouldnt even cost as much as you quoted. If you want new springs and chocks look at the vacinity of ~700-1000.

come on man, black n chrome it will very tastful dont worry, not looking for some Gaudy Vaults style things or anything (no offence to those who take it), and im into rap, so it kinda goes hand in hand to be pushin a 'AC COUPE sittin on them chromie thingz' plus its a Gsi not a type R, its for show, not go (it will be classy i mean)

For just springs.... sounds about right but no shocks. Best idea is to get something good, don't be stingy on this shit.

Tints: $300
Yeah sounds about right..... you maybe able to talk them down. I would recommend tint a car in camberwell, cos after 2 years the tint is still looking good.

Umm... this is just gay.... save your money and get blue LED washers cos their just as gay. You could also get LED valve caps for your chromies... that would look gay too. Getting off topic now...

I think extractors are around $400 and upwards. You could do a cheapy for the time being and just take off the pod filters cap. That will get you some induction noise


Don't forget to get a good alarm so that nobody steals your goodies. Pay at least $500 upwards.

yeah well it kinda depends on the quality, if you want good stuff you spend a bit more than 5, but yeah it is about right to spend around that much. tho if you do your shopping and research you can probably cut it down.

But if you want a big subby... which you do... your gonna get spoiler rattles like me. Get a mugen or type r rear spoiler.... that would look sweet and MAY NOT rattle, cos i find the LED's are the part that rattles.

I have a fart can 2.5 in 4.5 out :P. Tegs seem to sound alright compared to other 4 cyc like lancers when they have these fart cans on. When it hits vtec it sound funnier/fartier.... but if you've been thrashing the car for a while the muffler warms up and sounds pretty nice all thru the rev range.

If your not gonna go all out with performance IMO don't spend any money on performance at all cos it will just be a waste especially when your getting 17" and you already don't have alot of money to throw around.

17" rims with tyres in Perth start at around 1700, chrome around 2k.
tyre packages are so cheap over east!

kings springs installed are about $500 installed including wheel alignment

you can get away with a $25-$30 pod filter
they all do the same thing. plus when they get dirty, just buy another one ;)

if your just lookin for a muffler, and not a whole zorst system, i'd probably go for one of these:

Springs as EG_2 said get some kings for cheap

mags - all up to you used 1000 sounds good 2000+ on new ones with tyres chrome gunmetal whatever :)

Tints - 390 for my bros Car mine already had it done so yeah 300 sounds good long as its not a shit job

Guages - ok heres were im gonna sound gay for $180 i purchased speedo white guages that glow blue i personally was against them my friend has a lude, and they looked good and they have grown on me so yeah go the EL guages ( please dont go over the top with neons though )

pod filter - go down to autobarn or ebay and get a $29 special all the same

nah definatly not going overboard with neons, just want a lil colour in the kinda dull lookin gsi interior (vtec red would be nice ;) for a guage backlight), thinkin I might actually take the door inserts out and dye them black rather than plain ol' 1993 era grey. or maybe even source some genuine type R inserts :). and might get some acura badges, cause i kinda have a fetish for the US model teg's. but yeah, thanks heaps for the feeback guys. great. :D

If you want something that's loud, crass and bassy that budget of $1500 might get you something. If you want nice SQL, check out Marty (Fhrx)'s budget thread in the Audio/Visual section. $2000ish should net you a quality mp3 HU, decent amp, good front splits and solid 10"ish sub

Mags (17's, chrome new or 2nd hand w/ tyres) :
If you merely want "bling" or whatever the term is, check out mass rim places like Tempe or BigO in Moorebank. $2000 or under sounds right for a fully sik Tempe drive in drive out 17"s and "Falken" tyre job

Exhaust: If you don't care about performance, merely get a axleback custom setup or even just a muffler fitted at your local zorst shop

Lowering/Springs
PM Civic Si for awesome spring prices, or check out the Marketplace for new or 2nd hand items.

Tints:
Check out a thread in the Lounge, or PM fueltank for awesome tints by Boyd. Roughly $200-250. Have seen the work and is perfect.

Illumi Gauges:
You want "class" and yet want illuminated gauges? Christ, sleep on it, please. But if you must, DON'T shell out vulgar amounts of money. Keep an eye on the Marketplace here, as well as ricer forums like Hot4s, maybe Fast Fours. Something will pop up 2nd hand. Most people get sick of their insanely ugly gauges after a few months and move on to sell them for a great loss. That could be your gain! ;)

Pod Filter $80 + extractors
If you don't want performance (seeing you're fitting heavy wheels, and only interested in a nice exhaust note), don't bother with extractors. What do you want a pod filter for? Noise? Just drop a K&N or similar item into your stock airbox, and port air from the front fender, or you could always set up an illegal exposed pod in your engine bay for the sound and "chrome intake pipe"

stereo wise, i was thinking along the lines of like a mad JB hifi sale, and pick up a pioneer silver cd/mp3 player unit (u know the ones, very popular model) around $350 i think u can get em for... sub prob like a 12" JL audio at best, or kicker or something cheap (most 12's are cheap as chips these days), and like some pioneer 6's front & back (no splits for me, 6's will be ok), and a 400 dollar cadence or coustic amp. 4channel/2channel something like that.

mags yeah im after like alba/alexia brand mags, something nice, nothing chunky like alba banks. $2000 cash w/falken tyres package i got quoted.

exhaust yeh might just go muffler perhaps, dont want to spend over 500.

Dude dont wanna sound rude or anything, but if it aint a type r, then it iwll never be a type R. Our little gsi's dont mind a bit of bling or mild performance, but that is about it.

If you merely lower your car on springs, your stock shocks WILL eventually die and the ride will become extremely unsafe and umcomfortable.

What have you got to lose? Throw it on, and in 3-4 mths time, when you're sitting in traffic in 40 degree summer heat, and your exposed pod is heatsoaking in the engine bay, see how much you enjoy the overall shite performance and lag in throttle response. :) I suggest you do a search, both here and informative forums such as www.team-integra.net. Pod filters can be great, but it depends what result and setup you are running.

$550-$650 fitted should net you a great topish range system from any of the major names. Black Widow, Brant, etc. Check out places like JB's (dont know if they install alarms), www.lifestylestore.com.au, www.brant.com.au for quotes. Ring around and ask.
Anything with a shock sensor, ultrasonic sensor and/or microwave sensor and minimum 3pt immobiliser will be good. And all of the top systems have all black wiring as well.



I suggest you read up on various issues you're interested in regarding your GSi. Many of these topics have already been covered. The Search buttons just there!
