welcome to the wonderful world of insurance. the cheapest would probably be AAMI with their new higher excess deals....was like $600 in my name plus $2000 excess for a 2004 euro. ended up going with racv cause they allowed me to pay by the month for the first yr. $1200 with them.

Could you specify what state you guys are in also? I think there should be a difference between NSW, tassie, WA, etc.

damn, insurance seems hefty over there!

i'm 19, mines about $900 (comprehensive) with me as a listed driver and having a bad driving history (wrote off an EG vti last year)
but my excess is pretty much fukd. any accidents or speeding fines, and i can kiss my insurance goodbye

I'm 25 and in NSW , AAMI was def teh cheapest . $1096 for my 94 Vtir recently had a kit fitted and lowered which bumped the price up by $11 dollars but no charge cz its under $20 bucks . Mods is the biggest thing my bro has a 92 civic auto but its riced out for looks . He pays 2500 . He asked why so expensive cz its not really a perfomance car and the told him because it looks good it attracts theives therefore he pays for it in insurance .

I remember a book comming out once with all the best "I'm claiming insurance because...... "stories . Maybe its time for enthusiasts to write a book on best bullshit insurance company quotes & reasons .

I'm 26 with a 2000 dc2r (no mods) $800

I think there is a lot less car theft in Adelaide so insurance is cheaper here

wow the prices varies so much!

I am looking in buying a dc2r.
How much do you all think I would be forking out.
I am 24 years old and I have never held insurance under name yet. However I do have a clean driving record, no fines whats so ever.

thanks

it doesn't matter if you haven't a fine - the insurance officer will still bend you over the bonnet of your own car and **** you for all you're worth. Shop around and call everyone, but make sure you're exactly clear on what rating you're entitled to be on. If you haven't had insurance yet - they'll probably start you on rating 4 or 5- so expect over $2000 for an R.

for the record, i'm 23, $1600 GSI JustCar in Melb.

i got 3rd party. got quoted around 2k for full comp, but for my 94 vtir i wouldn't pay that. in 5 years or so of insurance i would nearly have been able to buy another car.

3rd party = $300 bucks in my name and i'm 21

$1500 a year, full comprehensive with mods. 23 years old, rating 1 with racv. and a couple of speeding fines with 1 in the past 2 years. 15+ km/h over. Not tooo bad.

when i had the dc2r, 19yr, under dad's name, me as nominated driver, addressed interstate $3000 a year. nsw nrma. that was pretty much my only option at the time. so dont go nrma unless you have to, but if you cant get insurance with anyone else NRMA is your friend :)

You guys are lucky that you have your dad and insurance history to help you with your premiums. :) (assuming you've had insurance since u started driving)

Heres me. I've only had insurance history with AAMI for 1 yr, that's with a 99 Civic Sedan. I didn't go for comprehensive (i thought it was too expensive), so I went with 3rd party. Clean history etc etc. I'm 23 btw. Got an ITR DC2. AAMi wouldn't cover me, 23+ITR=No cover. If i thought my Civic was expensive.. boy was I wrong. The cheapest i got was from Just Car Insurance $3770. ;) NRMA, GIO were higher.

opps.. I'm in NSW. :D I wonder what I could have gotten for the extra $$$ from TODA? mmmmmm.....

looking at the prices, its funny, really, considering that theres the same or more power in the average v6 falcon compared to a teg. non-type r of course.

I had it for just under 2 years, the second year was just third party because I used it as a weekend car after I got the TJ as a daily driver...

second that! I was previously with AAMI and they said that I'd have to go for Just Cars. They don't insure ITRs to under 25s

G'day guys, this is my first post on these forums :) (Just bought a 94 Vti-R Integra)

I'm 21 years old and im paying $1250 a year for full comprehensive with Young and Cool Insurance. I have the car valued at $15,000. The fact that i have been on my parents insurance policy for 5 years without claim did help with the price, but yeh i found they're alot cheaper than just cars.

Cheers!

Dude what are you doing wrong. I got a quote of 1265 from justcars. Told them i had a full kit, coilovers, swaybars, break upgrade, pod, full zorst, lowered, 18's and other stuff like clear tail ligghts. im 19 and this is in my name only. the car is insured for $19000 where it was only insured for $15000 with aami for $1300 and that was not even covering my wheels. this is on a 97 gli civic too:) Justcars covered everything and then gave me a discount and excluding my wheel excess my excess was $100 cheaper. i did chat up the chick tho and she sounded hot:)

different states = different quotes. as do different suburbs.

They were talking about ITR's above there, your profile suggests you have an EK civic. That would also lower the cost

My point was that justcars was cheaper than aami. That was with the same rating at the same location. I was forced to change from aami to justcars so they may have looked out for me there but i was still gobsmaked when justcars was cheaper for a higher insurance value and all the mods.

omg how come ITR insurance so cheap compare to prelude??
i had mine quote under my name, 22yr old around 12k..

yeah prelude vtir is high because of power output.. apparently gets classed in the same bracket as turbo vehicles due to factory output. I pay $1500 with WQBE full comprehensive

But still that is way expensive for a crx unless you got it pretty modded.

im rating 4, 22, comprehensive in my name, in melbourne.

1988 CRX, few mods, nothing worth writing home about, the cheapest quote i got and subsequently accepted was with Just Cars for $2200 (work use incl.), was $1700 without work travel covered.

personally im annoyed, as 2 incidences that are listed on my policy and affect my rating werent even my fault (such as being side swiped by a car changing lanes into me)... but thas insurance for u!

I reside in Liverpool (NSW) which is not a great suburb, 5 speeding tickets, 2 loss of licence (lost once in my b16a civic and 1 in my 01 rexy), 1 red light camera, I am 22 and have a 10% NCB.

I am paying $3k with JustCars.

I could have paid similiar with a rex or s2k (with another insurance company in WA) if it wasn't for me losing my licence again a few months ago.

Damn...... z3lda that's expensive. I think it go to do with the kind of car you drive.
But still that is way expensive for a crx unless you got it pretty modded.

i bought the car stock, excpet for the prevous owner putting on a muffler. alliance quote 7k so did racv.
then went to JustCar, quoted 3k. then told them i didnt have exhaust and they took off 200bux.

My point was that justcars was cheaper than aami. That was with the same rating at the same location. I was forced to change from aami to justcars so they may have looked out for me there but i was still gobsmaked when justcars was cheaper for a higher insurance value and all the mods.

you do realise that Just Car is underwriten by AAMI. its just that if u get into an accident, they'l get an accessor out and any mods not mention when u join they wont cover you and pay u out.
