This is my 92 Si Hatch. After having my last riced civic i did not want anything to ricey ever again. It took a few weeks looking plus plane tickets to sydney and then a 11 hour drive to get this one but i made the right choice. having writing off my last car that i poured over $25k into i wanted to find one with a clean body either Si or VTi so i didn't firstly have to spend money cleaning it up. this is what i found. i so far have replaced the yellowed headlights with new ones and really cleaned up the interior.

is ur car originally an gl or is it an genuine si?

55EXX
23-12-2007, 02:23 AM
genuine si. eg5 in chassis no. and d16a8 dohc under the hood. better suspension + brakes. it has enough go for me at the moment.

it has a eg6 front lip. i got my windows tinted with 3M 20% tint friday all round. nice and black. the film i got was the best carbon one so it is a true black so even tho it isn't as dark as my old 10% tint it looks blacker and is better to look out of. i will post pics when i take some.

as for interior i am cleaning that up to. i'll be giving it a good clean nice seat covers new black carpet (not grey) painting the door card inserts black to match and competely sound deadening the car with plenty and plenty of dynamat extreme. will be doing the fire wall through to the end of the boot and the doors. will post up pics and make a tutorial for those wanting a quiter rattle free ride to hear music better and just want more quiet.

also has a momo 330mm black with grey inserts commando steering wheel and momo gear knob.

lots planned for this little beast.

Got pics of the interior? I'm still deciding between black/polished lip rims on my Red EG, or white SW888's.

Us Brissie EG boys gotta meet up. Preferably after my B18CR goes in so I don't look like a pansy in steelies.

The anti ozhonda additional and overboard sound deadening of my EG Si.

99.9% of the guys on this forum would have a heart attack seeing how much weight i added to my car by doing this but each to there own. i am a very serious car sound enthusiast. its no use having quality speakers if the roar of road noise etc is hiding all of the hidden detail that you paid so much extra to hear. anyway please don't burn me for what i have done. i wasn't going to post this work on here cos i thought i'd get burnt but a few people are interested so i thought i'd share.

this is what i spent a weekend doing. took all the interior out.

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/9/web/2961000-2961999/2961641_26_full.jpg

while i did this i put the dynamat out in the sun to soften. warm Bris day this had no troubles. i had troubles tho sweating my ring out. nothing a few bourbons wouldn't fix tho
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/9/web/2961000-2961999/2961641_27_full.jpg

i did all of the floor and boot area with dynamat extreme

dedicated sound guy,nice effort.
lil tip-when you get some bass in the back of these eg's,the black rear wing at the top rattles its ass of and squeaks against the back window, ive just stuck some foam down the back of the wing and it gets rid of most of the squeak

55EXX
15-01-2008, 06:14 PM
this is sound absorbing felt underlay. it absorbs sound. the stuff i applied before adds weight to the panels so it doesn't create sound.

how i applied it. boot
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/9/web/2961000-2961999/2961641_39_full.jpg

i used paint on deadener to adhere it so the dynamat... so yes even more deadener. i painted it on nice and heavy then stuck it to it

this difference this made was unreal! the car is quieter and feels smoother. little bumps in the road no longer make that big thud noise. my exhaust is still audibly loud but sounds deeper and less rattly from inside the car which makes it more pleasant. it feels like a new car. definately worth the $600+ of deadener and time. i know most of you think i'd be crazy to spend that much to do what you guys are doing the opposite of, but we have opposite goals. you want a gutted out fast car, i want a quiet smoother ride that sounds great with going fast not a high priority. i love the look of the eg thats why i have one. one i'll get a 2nd eg and gut that. this one is still pretty quick tho.

Thats awesome. I'm not crazy into Sound like you but definately love the setup. I'm running DA m5's at the front and soon to be upgrading to an IDMax 12" sub. I'll be doing exactly what you just did :)

Can't wait. And seriously, it doesn't add that much weight. You went a bit overboard, but your Dynomat woulda added 5-7KG max. I'm guessing yours added 20KG roughly. Have you done the doors yet?

Can you please PM me the place you got your black moulded carpet from?

Thanks,
Matt

archerfield automotive for $270 cash no reciept don't expect the same tho cos my dad works for denmac ford and does a bit of business with him. would added bout 30 or so (2 bulk packs of dynamat 2l of paint on deadener a can of spray and a big roll of flash tac once the doors are done. going to do the door when the speakers are getting put in at northfield. don't know what work has to be done and don't wanna have the door ripped open after i deadened it all.

It's interesting that you have Northfield doing your doors, when I'd considering what you did harder than mounting front splits and SD front doors.
