Hi, my brother installed LED sticks in both the front footwells but the LEDs have since died. He's overseas at the moment, so I don't know how to un-install them. If I follow the leads they just go into the centre console, so I ask the question, how hard is it to uninstall. Car is a Euro btw.

Interesting. I would have thought there would be a better way, such as removing the wires from where they were connected? Please clarify, because I'm not familiar with the installation either, so I don't know what is connected to what.

Ok....Going off at a noob in the noob forum. How apt!

Anyhow, I followed all the leads, removed the LED leads and reattached where necessary. I end up with one loose end.

Is that blue wire supposed to be there/loose?

that was not called for! i see you have more green blocks than me, but i bet any money im a hell of alot smarter than you!

id agree with power-of-dreams by asking about a better way, he owns a euro, im pretty sure he has more respect for it than to just leave wires tucked away!

as said by others, this is noob forum, so calm down, noobs will be noobs...

back on subject now:
not sure what that blue wire is for... wheres that connector? ill check on my euro for ya!

Yeah thanks, I did all that (refer to the post above yours), was just wondering about that blue wire. It's weird because it comes from the side, rather than "in a box" like the other wires. They are on all the time btw.

So far I've removed drivers side, and reconnected the wires there, and the passenger side was still on, does that suggest that I reconnected correctly? I'm thinking yes, otherwise if I did negative to postive the passenger side LED wouldn't work. Am I right?

correcto... unless it has a bridge rectifier (which i very much doubt it would) unless you connected the wires with correct polarity the LEDs would not work... (Ligh Emitting Diode - diodes only allow electrons to flow one direction :D)

tape it up for now, i dont think its for anything, looking at the pic, seems to be aftermarket...

if you tape it, thatll stop it from shorting out on anything, but itll still be there if its needed later on :D

Just went for a quick spin, seems to be no problems. (Although with this sort of thing I suppose you never really realise until your car is a pile of ash).

Thanks again for the help.

Yeah ok fair enough, would have perhaps been more helpful if such a disclaimer was made in the first post, before yourfather went off his nut.

the issue was - he asked for advice, he was given good advice, then completely ignored that advice and asked another question.

p.s. i never said I know more than anyone, and I'm not a mechanic, but I do my own shit myself, and I do it when I need to.

But if I ask for advice and I receive it, and it is good advice, why would I ignore it and ask more questions

I was unaware such advice was "good" and was curious as to whether there were any alternative methods. It's the noob forum for ****s sake, give me a break.

ok...

so did you get it done???

power_of_dreams
27-12-2007, 09:47 PM
Yes I removed the LED wires and joined back the stock wiring before wrapping them in electrical tape. Also wrapped the loose blue wire in tape.

sounds good.

Have you got any other lighting that you want to get rid of. Usually the footwell lighting is popular with the 17-21 year old frangipani mob. so I think you have done a good deed
