hi guys, for the first time in a long time i drove my brothers EJ8. and when i drove it seemed much zippier than me EK1, i dunno why but its like if i put my foot down it felt like it'd go harder, maybe its because my brothers car is stock and mine has exhaust? i dont know.. do you guys think perhaps my spark plugs might need replacing? id love too get it to his kinda level of response that'd be great. what do you guys think i should do

well the ej8 has a single cam vtec engine.. whereas urs has a single cam non-vtec engine? i've driven my mate's gfs ek1.. and yeah i felt like 'is this going anywhere?' and that was me flat-footing it..
have u got a pod filter? that would always help engine response

if you say Ej8, than it should be a vti model (SOHC vtec), whereas ek1 is non vtec single cam.
so of course ej8 will go faster in that sense

it does actually, I'd driven an ej8 with just a muffler change. no pod filter no extractor. the response is way better than d16y4 without I/H/E.

vti ftw
on redbook both the vti and the cxi/gli have the same kilowatage @ 88 lol so u decide.

according to redbook the ej8 has 96kw and civic gli/cxi have 88kw.
and also suprisingly the coupe is lighterweight at 1029kg and the EK hatch gli at 1037kg.
maybe i should have double checked that lol... i was looking at the 4 door oops

exactly which in reality is lighter coupe or EK hatch?
diff sources say diff weights, like carsales site have some diff weight for civics to redbook.
any ideas?
according to carsalse specs the EK hatch gli is lighter at 1035kg kerb mass and the ej8 coupe is 1055kg kerb mass.

pretty sure the hatch is lighter than the coupe.
The coupe is slightly longer so i would assume that it would make it slightly heavier.
P.S VTI is still vtec and its better than no vtec

the coupe the hatch and the sedan are based on the same wheel base. i have an ej8 coupe. the plate where the vin is states it 1029kg. i guess that the hatch would a little less then that, but like i said they are bassed on the same wheel base.

If you have copper plugs in them, they last only 1 year/20,000km. Platinums last about 3 years/60,000km and the iridium ones 6 years/100,000km. So I would change the ones you have on the car now.
