Gday

Recently recieved my spoon 4 pots + 282mmrotors that i would like to hopefully use with my buddyclub p1s 15 x 6.5 with 42 offset with Rays Wheel studs

Now either my options are

1 - Spacers + possibly longer studs + (possibly may not be able to use rays studs)

2. - Slight Notch the inside of the rim and repaint in white... to clear the caliper ( but unsure of consequences, anyone with info)

3. Possibly Grinding down the caliper face... but really wouldnt want too as they are brand new and gorgous

4. Suggestions (besides get new rims)

spacers are illegal and dangerous IMO (according to teh interweb)
Dont touch the rim itself , could alter its strength and reduce its life considerably. Most people opt to grind down one edge of the caliper itself ~ you can always paint it afters.

probably is the most sensibly solution... keeping everything legal.. just will look like crap eh... :(

I've been using 5mm spacers for nearly 2 years now. Get some arp wheel studs if you really want.

cant really give you advice because I haven't been there. but i'd take safety over aesthetics... you can always fix them up later?

^ that is the most resonable thing definately... i might look into grind the spoon caliper with a few grades of sand paper... possibly to a very smooth finish then possibly getting the pant matched and repainting where it has been grinded

What is your Brake / Wheel (size and offset) combo?

i realise that notching / grinding rim spoks, could potentiall make hairline cracks, possible effect the balance of the rim and well as make it un-structuraly sound however...

i was thinking a grinding not useing the traditional grinding wheel, but possibly starting it with heavy grade sand paper finishing with very fine, then mask it off, repaint in white and put some clear over the top....

that way there wouldnt atleast be violent vibrations going through the core of the rim etcetc...

any thoughts anyone?

i say leave the wheel.
do the caliper.
if you don't wanna do the caliper,
use the spacers and longer studs.
my mate has been running on 5mm spacers for 7 years, no problems.

Offset won't really make a difference. It's more in the spoke design and wheel size. I'm just using my stock brakes on a 92 accord. I've had to use spacers with 15 x 6 +50 and 16 x 7 +42. ps. I really don't think damaging the wheels is a good idea. They are probably already running reasonably fine tollerances to make them as light as possible. My vote is definitely for extended arp studs with 5mm spacers. You can get good spacers that match your hub size/stud pattern rather than the multifit ones too.

when you used the spacers how much thred did you have out the other side... at what point would it be getting dangerous... i know this will vary from person to person but just generally?

I've never measured it and I couldn't tell you when it would start to be dangerous. Sure 2 turns of the nuts is probably a bad idea. Especially with lightweight nuts. But you'll just have to judge for yourself. I just know that there is plenty there, even with stock length studs for me.

where can i get the best wheel spacers for a more specific fit rather then universal
