It really depends what the rest of the catback is.
And which model muffler.Usually magnaflow sound smooth and deep but can sound buzzy depending on the set up.
Use youtube to hear exhaust sounds,

i had a magnaflow on my 4th gen prelude and loved it, had a deep rumble others have mentioned and it looks like a high quality item, not a cheap dodgy cannon.

back then, about 3 years ago, they retailed for about $400, may have gone down abit since then, but they aren't the cheapest going around thats forsure.

What is the rest or your exhaust system?Standard or been modified?
You can add another resonator or straight thru muffler in the middle to make it a bit quieter.
Something like this http://www.furinox.com/mufflerpics/magnaflow.jpg

This is a resonator
http://www.roadraceengineering.com/parts/tweekerparts/2.5inch-resonator.jpg

It will quiten it slightly but not as much as the proper muffler above.
Just depends how much quieter you want it.

I had a Magnaflow cannon on my old 20v Corolla, with a 2 1/4 inch system it farted bad until I put a resonator in and was still kinda loud. Being made in the states I've been told their sound properties are better suited to larger engines greater than 3L capacity.

Im running Magnaflow high-flow cat, 22" resonator and chamber style muffler on my B20VTEC. Sounds awesome, nice deep tone, no farting or rasping at all. Picked up the cat, resonator and muffler for AU$380 shipped to my door.

I have a magnaflow on my teg...the only time it's quiet is on idle. I'm seriously thinking about changing it. Even back to stock would be better than the drone it makes when I accelerate. Of course...my teg sounds like a fighter jet when I get it over 5000...
