Hey,
Just wondering if anyone has some info about importing a EK9. Anyone know of a good and trustworthy importer or is importing just a stupid idea?
What do you think?

The only way you will get one is if you find someone selling one which is pretty rare, or if you bring one into the country via a personal import...

Good luck finding one.

as paul said finding an EK9 importer will be really difficult. only way is prob import one urself. you'll have better luck with an civic EP type R.
where abouts are you located? try looking it up on yellowpages or trading post, have a look around and get the best deal but they get sold pretty fast cuz of the limited numbers.

If you want to find a legit ek9, its going to be very difficult because only way you'll get it into Australia is if you own it for 2 years in another country and then import it over. with that amount of work, i'd doubt sellers would push it with small amount of money. your better off buying a EK shell and importing ek9 wreck and then swap them over (EK9 REPLICA). i want a ek9 myself too but still don't know whats the best option to take, anyone have suggestions???

be careful between replica vs. real.
obviously you would expect to pay more for genuine, people will try sell replicas for the same price stating they are genuine.

If your happy with a replica its cool, but you might want the real deal you know..

If you do some research on it you will find theres a few ways to determine the replica vs. real. Some people do a real good job on the replicas.

Id personally buy a EK9 wreck and convert my own but thats cos i like to do the work on my cars :)

call edward lee, and ask for Phil, he the owner and ask him to buy u EK9 .. he can get anything u want in a good nick cond. but prepare for abit more money than buying from private sale.

few friends and family friends used his service for long time and never have any problems..

PS: dont talk to anyone else there (most sale rep. are noob there and will try to sell something else)

i made a thread wanting to get one about this also
ahahahaha

man..so hard to find

what if someone purchased it..say from new zealand
owned it for like 1 - 6 months

and decided to move to sydney? does that count as being a personal import or does he/she need to own the car for at least 2 YEARS??

You won't be able to import an EK9 under SEVs because it does not meet the criteria. It is not significantly different to the EK4 (3 Door Hatch, 1.6L, etc). SEVs is the scheme that allows for the import of EP3, Skylines, 200SX etc.

The only way to import an EK9 is to live overseas for 12 months, and own drive, and maintain the car and retain receipts to prove this.

See references:
http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/motor/sevs/index.aspx

List of Sevs eligible cars:
http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/sevs/sevsindex.htm

Hope that helps

i have heard from multiple sources that this car is rebirthed (and unsafe) ...dont ask me tho i have NFI. But it does sound like a dodgy situation

yeah you read right. ive thought long and hard about my smart comment and i stand by it...thanks for your concern though.

sure itd be awesome to have a genuine ek9, but when its rebirthed as MULTIPLE RELIABLE SOURCES have told me then you're nothing short of a thug in selling it to someone else as such. this is an advice to others wanting to buy import like these that they need to be ultra careful.

hey bro, no offense but to me a geniune ek9 to me is with jap VIN number like JHMEK93...etc. this way theres a greater chance we know someone has owned a geniune in another country for 12 months. so if its registered with an aussie civic VIN then the chances of replicas and rebirths are much much greater. *scratch head* MAN will the SEVs bastards ever let us import the ek9 into AUS anytime soon??

how much do you think a ek9 rebirth or replica is worth in good condition??

simonnowis
05-01-2008, 09:57 PM
alot less then the cost of a genuine.
prob roughly to cover most of the cost of conversion to be fair.

personal import plates are yellow tags and the vin should be EK9 XXXXXX
thats all should have on the fire wall with a matching blue vin tag on the rad support

If your EK9 have a EK1 VIN number(if it's a cut and weld), than the car is illegal and the car can be take off the road anytime.

Good luck to your new buyer and you have done a good job of ripping people off.

you dont get it - its ILLEGAL to drive on the road , and dangerous too (the cutting and re-welding part).

zco

what if its not a cut and weld, but merely a shave number off. stamp new number on ?

can that be dangerous ?
