Hey all, I've been discussing possibly organising a track day sometime in the year and had a bunch of questions regarding it.

[ I have searched around, as a last resort I'm making this thread ].

What types of track events are there, I've read things regarding open days? So that would mean the track is open to anyone who is paying p/ car? Or..?
How much does it cost to book an open day (If that is even possible)? And do you pay per car, or booking fees and what not?
Are there any good tracks in Melbourne that people have raced on? The track day I'm planning on organising is more, fun-orientated than race-orientated. So even smaller/basic tracks are fine. If so, could you let me know where they're located and how much they ~cost please.

Any insight regarding this would be awesome!
Hope someone can shed some light as ITR forums couldn't.

Thanks,
Michael.

Best would to call up your local track Or track you thinking of heading too. Some tracks require a cams license L2S minimum.

We have organised some wakefield trackdays. Open days are days where anyone can come for a day of fun. Just take your car then thrash it, your not racing anyone. Large variety of cars. Open days at wakefield on weekdays it'll be lucky to get 20 cars there. So there's alot of track time, good for practice or test a new mod.

Pirvately booking at trackday can be abit more expensive. you'll want at least 30-40 cars to cover all the expenses and so on. Alot of people prefer timing so thats gonna cost. A organised trackday at wakie for 40 cars with timing, insurance, ambulance easy $120+ per car.

Ah.

I guess the open day is more what I'm looking for, as opposed to racing, me and some friends are just wanting to go out, have a bit of fun, test our cars out a little bit. I'm clueless as to tracks in Melbourne, so if anyone knows any decent ones, do post them up so I can investigate.

For the open track days, are there any costs involved? Or is it just, show up & go?

Thanks!

EDIT:
Found out that it's a ~$200 for Caulder Park open day, anyone know any other Melbourne tracks?

Melbourne you would look at Broadford, Winton Raceway, Sandown and Phillip Island.
