Greetings to all at OzHonda.

My name is James and I'm currently in the market for a EG or EK model Honda Civic. I'm thankfully not in the rush to buy with about a 6 month celling perhaps even more so I hope I can find an example prefect for me.

I'm looking to hopefully purchase a higher end V-TEC equipped model such as the SI or VTI. I would be happy with either the Hatchback, coupe or sedan but I'm slightly leaning towards the hatchbacks due towards its lighter curb weight. Anyway some personal opinions from members, which model do you think is better? (i.e EK or EG)

The ES would join the list but I'm afraid its a bit out of my budget but thanks for the advice anyway.

Welcome dude.

As for the models, EF is the lightest shell that isnt too old, EG's can be a little bit more noisier from what Ive heard and I dont know much about the EK's... All different opinions from everyone, its up to you at the end of the day, whether it be for looks or performace..

Hi James! Welcome to Ozhonda and happy new year!

If you want real VTEC, then go for an EK4/EM1 or an EG with an engine swap.

Hey man, welcome...
Take a look at this, if it is actually a genuine EG6, then it's the import 125kw B16A

I have equivalent and she flies.
Considering ppl, ask 10k for an EF8 (B16A SiR, JDM EF civic), this is well worth while if it's in good nick!!

EG is my pick of the bunch, not too old, plenty of aftermarket support and lighter than an EK!!

Thanks for the replys guys. Basically, I will be purchasing the car off investment interest money so the more I wait, the more I'll have to spend. Towards the end of this year, my budget may hover around $12,000 so I guess that opens up some of the newer models for purchase. Main concern is that the car has preferably done under 70,000 kilometers and fitted with a B16 series engine (due to great aftermarket support), but I would settle happily with a D series engine if it meets the odometer requirements.

Again much appreciative of your help

Dude, i would be focusing on how well the car has been looked after, not the odo reading so much!
I would buy a car with a full service history wht 150 000 on the clock before i would buy an unknown with 70!!
Also judge the character you are buying it off, if they don't know what they are talking about, the car could be thrashed and let go way out of service, whereas someone who seems car savvy and has some sort of intelligence about them would more likely drop the oil every 5000k's etc...

If you are setting the bar at a B16, i wouldn't even look at a D series, though they are still a good engine they are worlds apart!!

welcome to OH mate, try going for a b18c7 EG im sure theyd be hella fun to drive, if not get a newer shell with the b16 ie EK4 just for resale purposes since they hold their value - i wouldnt really bother with eg b16 theyre lighter but ull have more trouble reselling and they usually go for around 10 so just spend the extra doosh and get something better :D just my 2c.

enjoy your stay.
