Okay sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section.

But I was involved in my first accident last week. A stooge driving a BMW X5 changed lanes without looking and hit my front quarter panel. There’s considerable damage on my car and none on his (of course), but I was able to still drive my car home.

My question is what happens now… it was his fault and he has admitted it. He’s asked me to forward the quotes for the repairs so he can pass onto his insurance company. Do I still need to inform my insurance company (JustCar) that my car has been damaged even though it was not my fault? Or will the other guy and his insurance company deal with it all?

Anyone with JustCar and had similar experience, I would appreciated your advice. Thanks in advance.

ring your insurance company with his details and tell them. theyll pass it onto his insurance company. thats what i did when i got hit (her fault)

ring them up and ask them. the best thing to do in situations like this is to be honest and tell everyone, even if you think they don't need to know.

Just make sure they understand that it wasn't your fault, the other driver has admitted responsposibility, and that the other driver is making a claim with his insurance company. You might even be able to ask them for info on repairers that just cars use.

ive got justcar and have been in similar situations.

call justcar, tell them what happened, they will then ask for the X5 drivers license number, full name, rego and make/colour of their car. Also, assuming the other driver has insurance, they will ask the other drivers insurance details and justcar will also want a claim number from the X5's drivers insurance company (X5 needs to call his company and tell them everything then they give him a claim number).

Then its pretty much out of your hands,Justcar will talk to the other company. You will be required to go to 2 panelbeaters (one of their choice and 1 of yours) to get quotes, they will choose the cheapest quote (regardless of quality,so i suggest you go to their chosen one first then choose a reputable panelbeater, show him your first quote and ask him if he can try his best to beat it)

An assesor from justcar will then come to check your car out, make sure its a true story, then they you book your car in and get it fixed and justcar takes care of chasing the X5 drivers insurance company for the money for the repairs

because it is agreed it was not your fault, you pay nothing, and it doesnt affect your insurance driver ratings or anything at all.Takes a couple of weeks for this whole process, give or take a bit for the time your waiting to get your car into panelbeaters, they have pretty big waiting lists sometimes

NRMA let me go straight to my preferred panelbeater, no other quotes required.

it doesn't really matter because they can assess the damage to prove that he hit you. Just stick to your guns when telling your insurance company.

The earlier and quicker you tell them the better it is for you. They are there for you for a reason and if by any chance the other guy changes his mind on the story they are there to dispute it in court.

I went through something a couple years ago when some ass reversed into me and it went through court and i all i did was put in a police statement were as they looked after the rest.
