i just got a an email from an importer, telling me that the new civic (any model) is now able to be imported and put on the road, anybody now if this is true??? if so it might be interesting to see, i think the market of AUD type-r tegs might go down due to this.

Well I don't consider the EP3 as new..... been out for a while now.

The NEW CTR that will come out will have a 1.5L engine..... and still keep very similar kerb weight!

That $100k is for the initial testing of the cars to allow them on the SEVS list isn't it?

I'll try to elaborate further..... what I mean is that those compliancing places that wish to get plates so they can bring in EP3s and compliance and sell them in Australia need to spend the $100k to get the "permit/permission" whatever to actually be allowed bring in the EP3s into Australia to compliance and sell as an import.

sounds like they have to pass crash testing or something given that cost, which would mean importing a couple of cars and having the testers bash the jebus out of them :)

There is a dude in Qld going through the motions. Could have them ready to comply by January.

We just imported a Nissan Stagea - Importing is a real bitch nowadays, so much beaurocrasy it is unbelievable. The amount of paperwork invoved nowadays is insane. I personally dunno if it will happen anytime soon. However, if it does, **** the 'lude, I'm buying a CTR....

Mmmmm... Stagea :) Nice choice - I'd love to pick up one of those or the Mitsubishi RVR.

I'm a little confused about the new CTR as there is soo many rumours about it.

I found this and am guessing that this is the new CTR everyone is talking about so much. Either way its a nice car and goes well!.. If you got the time download it and check it out.. and nice good review of the CTR .. and also a good review of the NSXR in there too!

Just heard from the dealer that it's highly unlikely that the CTR will be imported in.. that is according to Honda Australia I heard.. Honda Australia is however, more keen to bring in the Acura Badged cars into Australia.. mmmm

Honda won't, import companys will under SEVs. Honda say it won't because they are a bunch of limp-wristed gimps who wouldn't know a good thing if they had their dicks in it. Honda doesn't want it to come in under SEVs as they will lose the potential sale of one of the POS mid-level turd-on-wheels that passes for a Honda in Australia today.

Sorry dude I don't, I read it (well had it interpreted by my asian friends :) ) in one of those Civic/Integra Bibles.

The car looks very similar to the EP3 I dare say it is actually the same car just with a facelift. Kerb weight was about the same..... we are talking within 50kg + or - over the current one. The engine was a 1.5 L i-Vtec if I remember correctly rated at 180ps, can't remember torque.

One can assume that with the 180ps and the torque potential of the 1.5 while keeping the same weight is :thumbdwn: for it. Maybe they don't want it to be in the same league as the Integra even though they have had success with it in the past...... ie. sharing B series engines, and currently the two sharing K series.

I'm quite bemused by the article on it to.

Hey I tot the EP3 is running on k20=2 litres???????

You have got to be kidding me right???

Read the bloody thread from the start bro! Yes we all know the EP3 has a K20, this is another CTR that from what the mag stated (in quite a bit of detail), will carry a 1.5 i-Vtec engine with 180ps and retain similar kerb weight.

God knows what the heck they are thinking if this is true.... the magazine in question showed pics..... the pics of the car (not concept drawings, not photoshoped shit) showed a car that looked pretty much like a EP3 but with extensive facelift, grill, lights, bumper the whole front end of the car.... didn't see any rear shots or full side shots.

I'm starting to wonder if they built another i-Vtec head and slapped it onto the 1.5 L series engines from the Fit/Jazz, with higher comp bottom end, balancing ETC.

monstar i think your right.
the new CTR runs on a K20 engine and is a 2L vtec engine, its the same engine as the new DC5R...there isnt a 1.5L Type R..

this is it right?

there is a NEWER one
rumoured to be running a 1.5L
EVERYONE knows that the ep3 runs the 2.0L K20A
and the dc5r isnt really that 'new' either
