New Acura NSX Production Delayed

When the Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept made its debut at Detroit in 2007, it became evident that a new Acura NSX would not be available in 2008. Now, a Honda official has confirmed to Ward's Auto that the next generation Acura NSX will debut in 2010.

“We are developing it without any delay, so most probably we will have it in the period we already promised,” American Honda President and CEO Tetsuo Iwamura told a Ward's Auto reporter.

Previously, Honda CEO Takeo ***ui had said the car would come out between 2008 and 2009. In a 2005 speech, ***ui had said Honda would like to introduce a V-10 sports car "in three to four years." When the Advanced Sports Car Concept was shown off in Detroit, ***ui said a production version would be introduced at the October Tokyo Motor Show.

Despite the pressure placed on Honda by Nissan, which had planned - and succeded - in introducing their GT-R at Tokyo, Honda was unable to complete their production model. Rumors have since surfaced that an unenthusiastic responce to the concept sent the model back to the engineers for a reworking. The concept was designed by Acura's Los Angeles-based design team.

The end result is likely that the introduction of the Acura brand to Japan will be delayed, which could mean Americans might get the first shot at the NSX. If Honda retains similar specs as the Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept, then you can expect the new Acura NSX to be a supercar with a front-mounted V-10, and a highly-tuned rear-wheel drive version of Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system

IF Honda allows the Americans to have a very substantial hand in designing and engineering of the new NSX I believe it will have a good chance of being an abysmal failure.Unfortunately, the US or rather the North American market is huge and American styling cues(yuck!) are coming into Honda's international cars eg the Accord Euros big grill(Acura).Fueled by their overconfidence of believing they do things so much better than the rest of the world,I see a disaster in the making.:(

Unfortunately, the Accord Euro is Jap designed and styled before they decided to sell it in the US as the TSX. :) So it is not only the US, but Japan as well which are going towards the big grill design.

Exactly, but IMHO designs take ito account what American consumers like and the rest of the world cops it!
I'm sure 2009 the Euro/TSX will have an even bigger Acura styled grill.

If you haven't guessed it by now, very little impresses me about American design. :)

now that is a nice design, compaired to the american pos where there team probably used 60's american corvettes are their design inspiration or some bs, because that is what the american 'market' wants

Paint it red and you've got an Enzo look-a-like.

I'd love to see one in the flesh. The Acura design on page one though is a massive dog's breakfast.

When I saw the HSC concept a few years ago at the Melbourne Motor Show It just looked fantastic. There were always a large number of people around the exhibit.I remember saying to myself "Good on ya Honda,it's a beauty!".
Boy, did they crush my dream  !

It may be a repost but the link below shows the HSC on the road,to me it looked sensational.

Please Honda, don't let the Americans design Honda's next supercar.:(

The reason why the HSC concept was canned was because Honda decided to go from a mid engine V6 to a front engined V10.

Nothing wrong with V8s. Unless you dislike Ferraris. I'm guessing the reason why they are going for a V10 is because they want to exceed 500hp with 5L. If they did a 5L V8, each cylinder would be huge and would have filling inefficiencies. If they went for a shorter stroke to keep high RPM, then the pistons would be heavy as well.

HSC body
6.0 L V12 DOHC ADVANCED I-VTEC (and just for the fun of it supercharger and twin-turbo combo lol...)

.......................................... ...

Yep and that's my greatest fear with Honda.
I remember seeing a couple of film clips with the designers of the Acura concepts and they were clearly out of their depth. They sounded like a couple of juvenile computer geeks trying to explain their concept using phrases like "Kind-of- cool" .They might as well have chewed gum and worn baseball caps back to front!
The first concept they came up with,I cant remember the name well, that particular design had to have been "created" by a drug induced pow wow session by the designers-really those designers should've been charged with committing an obscene act in public. The car looked like some alien spawn!YUCK!!!

That is true, but if the Americans and the Britishs have anything to do with the "R" concept, its ****ed anyway... So make up for the shit with a bonkers engine ;)

Meh, they added power, you just don't "see" it :p

280PS rating for the C32B in the NSX-R is as good as the 280PS in the BNR32...

No where near 280PS, actually you'll find it around 300PS+ hahaha

Intersting..... you would have thought that with the cab forward design of the bloody thing that getting the V10 behind there with a transaxle would not be too much drama.

LMAO @ GTRVspec95 ..... he would too wouldn't he.

HSC was a much better design, its sad to think the new NSX could be a load of American crap, the original design philosophy of a lightweight, functional, daily driveable sports car was spot on, I hope one day to own a 2nd hand one,

And the whole "motor in front and massive V10" thing isn't in every other supercar either, sure Nissan have done a fantastic job, and the new Lexus LF-A is front engined (and looks like a Supra) but why would they go backwards after showing the world they could do something that could show up a Ferrari or Lambo?

Mind you, if it was designed for the Australian market, it would probably be a Ute, cause they are such an awesome sports car here you know!

I just hope that whatever they come up with makes it to Australia eventually, would be a great marketing idea for Honda (especially when Nissan and Toyota will be here with theirs)

I wish they would bring the Kiawami here :)

Cheers

Chris
