Hello All

I am a long time viewer of these forums but have never posted. Ive searched very thoroughly and found out that there are several options for connecting an ipod to an 05 std euro which are Xcarlink, Shond3 and Icelink. Each do have their pro's and cons but i am still undecided as which one would be better. I have a 3rd gen ipod nano if this makes a difference. Can anyone advise which is actually the better option.

Thanks in advance.

I plan to get this -

As it has an AUX input, as well as iPod control.

i have a 3rd gen ipod nano, and am currently using a xcarlink. I did buy a dodgy icelink from ebay for $10, but it didnt work at all.

The xcarlink works well. Steering wheel controls work, and it also has a 3mm jack for other mp3 players, or navigator. Good sound quality.

The only problem i am having with it is after about 15mins of operation, the iPod displays "charged", and I have to press play twice to get to continue playing music (anyone have a solution to this??).

Other than that slight annoyance it is a great product.

I use the icelink in my car. I have found it can gain a bit of interference (small hiss). My ipod is quieter than CDs even when my icelink is set on 4V.

Other than that it works great. I had to update the firmware which was a bit tricky but now it is great.

I would really like to get a good looking aftermarket HU tho. still yet to find a good facia or HU

I've installed an Xcarlink on mine (USB version not Ipod).. both do come with Aux input handy to have, but don't require this for the ipod.. very happy with the quality and service.

Some Euro owners have discussed this in detail:

From what i've heard... Any of your 3 options are better than the ITrip FM Transmitter

I bought the neolink unit from mp3yourcar.com.au and installed that myself in my 07. Works perfect, just had to remove the gear stick surround, ash tray then the flip top thing and the plug is right at the bottom of the factory head unit. After routing the cables to the left of the manual shifter where i put the small white control box i routed the ipod and aux input cables up to the glovebox. Cable tied all of the wires to keep them out of the way and put it together again.

Works excellent, perfect sound quality and steering wheel controls control the ipod, its the best. I bet thought that most of the ipod integration units would function very much the same so all are just as good but thats what i bought and installed, im real pleased with how it goes.
