Ek1 Odo

Hey guys,

Well i got a rather interesting question, so i took out the EK1 odo. And have noticed that on the odo where the lights light up.

E.g. indicators, high beam, oil light, fuel light ... etc

there is a pic ther for when the door is open. The pic is of a car from a bird's eye view that has the two doors open.

Now on my EK when the doors are open the two indicators are flashing, however since there is this extra light that is able to show up, it would be great if i was able to get it to work.

I looked at the back of the odo and found that its missing the bulb and the "clip" that screws on to it.

I sourced the clip and attached the bulb and inserted it into the odo.

Installed in car, but still there is no light in that "icon".

I kno my description is vague and confusing but is there anyway i can get it to work?

its prob an abs light from ek4 but ek1 dont come with them

its not as simple as fitting a bulb, the rest of the wiring may be missing from the car

pretty sure he just means when the door is open the lil car with door open symbol.. mine works on my CXI! dunno sorry mate

ar crap even ur work.... sigh i have no idea
insteal of the lil doors mine is just the emergency lights

you could always run some wires from the door triggers to the little light bulb in the cluster but it depends how good you are with wiring :) and make it work that way

ok i think i know what your getting at.
THe indicators flashing are your alarm sensors going off cos your doors are not closed.

The dash fitting that your talking about is the factory door open. It should work.

Now either when they installed the alarm the cut the sensor for the car and wired it to the alarm or the bulb is faulty.
Those are the only things i can think of.

My 1997 GLI don't have door open indicator on the odo. I found this DIY on D-series web site http://www.d-series.org/forums/showthread.php?t=48715&highlight=door

i kno exactly wot ur talkin about i noticed the same thing on my ek1 n on my dads em1(99 vtir coupe) thought was strange

well thats the thing. It is actually on the odo but there as no bulb in the actual cluster.
