Hi all,

Has anyone put a 2.0L from a CRV into an LS before?
And if so, is it any better than the stock engine?

of course its better then stock...

depends on who build it and what goodies you put in.

Unless your getting the motor for a few hundred bucks and do the swap cheap it's probably not worth it.
If your building the b20 then it's more worthwhile.

My engine is shot and after looking at options, I think this is the way to go.
Anyone else know any other cheap alternatives?

Fresh B18A+Boost, B16A.

Don't say "cheap" and "conversion" in the same sentence!!

Haha, maybe I should be more specific.

Here's my dilema; I have that needs a new motor now. I was thinking of taking it to the wreckers after I found out how much it would cost to fix but they are paying me maybe $400.

This is a shame since the rest of the car is still in good condition, so they offer $1000 for a CRV engine, and $600 to fit.

Good idea?

Oh... ok...

Well as ppl have said, it's not a race motor, no where near as strong as a B18A, but more torque and simalar power.

Stock for stock, they look roughlly something like this, assuming it's the earlier 97 model CRV;

..................Integra............CRV
Year............89-93..............97-01
Disp............1834cc.............1973cc
Power..........96-103kw..........94-108kw
Torque.........164-170nm........182nm

What do you mean by "strong" motor??

It's was not intended to be rung out to 7 or 8 grand on a regular basis like a B16 or 18 is...
It was built for a purpose, which was pulling a family around and maybe a little off roading here and there!!
Totally different internals, different bottom end/top end piston rings/valve springs etc...

go for a b16a. or b18c2.
b16a in syd will cost you 2650
b18c2 will cost you 3250

for half cuts that is. for fitting try ask akmotor's in traders.. they sell whole engines and also they install the whole thing too.. they get fresh JDM ones.. and also some AUDM stuff.. im surei f they can get b16,b18,b20's,k20s they can get you what you want at a price you want to pay.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

If I could afford a b16A i would, but I just couldnt spend that much money on this car.

Also, the 2.0 isnt vtec is it?

Nooo.B20 is from Honda CRV.The oldskool b20 came from the 1990 Preludes.
It's not really a "sporty"engine as others have said.
If stock and given a hard time they do break.
That's why i think its only worth using a B20 if your going to rebuild it.

Whats all this stuff about a b20 Vtec?

Is that just a conversion if u have a vtec head?

Hmmmm....

So if im getting my conversion done, are they using my existing head of my old engine?

And is the head gasket part of the head? Cos mine is in bad shape.

I doubt it, it would be costly for them to make a frankenstein cut of ur engine... they are probably just dropping the B20 straight in!!

want cheap mod, GO B20,LS No Vtec just to get you around. its not made for a sports car. so if it dies dont ask me.

if you want power. go LSVTEC b16/b20. if your running poor.. just fix the damn thing =)

Just stick in a B18a or B18b and keep using it as a daily. If you have the cash to do a good conversion like B16 or B18c then do it otherwise just do what you can afford and leave it at that.

What year is your Da9?

If its obd0 (89 to 91?) just chuck a b18A in it, I bought a full wreck with 150k on it for a grand so you should be able to get a low kms engine for half that.

If its obd1 (92+ i think) look for a b18b they're not much better than the b18a, just newer but worth the slight difference in price, they're also alot more common in good condition.
