i was sitting down the other day, contemplating my navel when it suddenly popped into my head about what the insurance company plans to do to me when i get my D16 engine conversion for my gen 4 civic.
does anyone have an idea on what the insurance might do? will it really be that insanely bigger. ps i am paying $600 p/y right now under my mum's name. will that change much? or would you (anyone) recommend simply getting a gen 2 crx that already has the d16 in it???
ps dont worry ben its just a thought :D
thanks

At 600 a year I'm assuming your talking about third party. If thats the case it shouldn't affect it at all however if its full comp you could be in for a kick in the pants.

How old are you? JustCars ($744) for a turbo EK1 for me is only $200 more expensive than RACQ insurance ($540) for a stock one. You could just say your old engine was replaced cause it was tired, and they might even let you keep the same premium.

nah yeh its actually full comprehensive...which to me is bloody good. $600 bux is alright eh. but does anyone (who has done conversion similar) know if it is a lot more expensive???

 it depends... i pay $2245 or somthing like that through just car...but every mod done to my car is insured... my last car was stolen... i did what u did and had it insured under my mums name i was paying $800 a year and i got nothing back... just car or shannons (i think with them you need a no claim bonus though)... but it is better to be safe than sorry...btw its a 98 vtir so im not sure if thats classed as a "sports car"... insurance companys are screwed, most wont insure u if they know its modified

yeh i just heard though that 'you' can legally change the engine in ur car up to 200cc more than stock and still be ok.
technically this is not a sports engine and it is (literally) a replacement for mine as mine is on the way out anyway
