ey how's things?

I was wondering if I could get some information on 4WD systems? as in why do they need extra care when launching off the line (as claimed by Clarkson in TG when drag racing a Lamborghini) and in the event of fast starts, why dose the revs drop all of a sudden? http://youtube.com/watch?v=844C8Wnfjf8 I guess the Evo IX GSR just floored it, whereas others took it easy, and the 4WD system drained all the power in the start?

many thanks

4wd layouts have so much more traction hence why you need to be more careful with them when launching. In a 2wd car the wheels will generally spin under hard acceleration causing the revs to rise and taking the load off the drivetrain. 4wd's have roughly twice the traction and don't spin the wheels (as easily) and the force is transferred through the driveline more.

They all floored it. The auto X is hampered by it's transmission. No launch control perhaps? The STi launched hard. You could see the shifter shake at the start pretty violently.
