hey
just wondering what you guys would recommend to get more power out of my eg8 vti...ok its got sum pull you know i do alrite against commodores and really any otha 4 cylinder non turbo but how can i give it those extra kw's or bit more pull
ive been told killer cams or sum shit like that i have done nothing to the engine only pod fitler and a muffler for sound nothing
HELP ME????

Usually people would suggest intake headers and exhaust for a start. If you're still not satisfied then you can go into engine converions since its still a vti.
Also turbo could be a good way to go about it as well. its totally upto you how much money you wanna spend.

4 door EG vti is not a EG8, it would be a EH9, so ur either mixed up your numbers.... or dont actually have a EG vti.
Also, nothing short of turbo will make a significant diffrence. All ull do is increase "response" and that means nothing. Just something ppl on this forum say to justify and expensive worthless mod.

sorry bro but it is ive checked my engine number and have been shown chart saying what civic is what and i have asked that question before and everyone said its either a eg8 or eg9

wtf, first of all aimre is right bro, i think u got your cars mixed up unless u got n engine conversion dun or something, we have slow POS cars.. the d16 sstock even with IHE is worthless it makes like 70kw ATW so i dont no wtf the holdens were doing wen u raced em but i dont no how u smashed em coz i have a "4door eg" and im telling u right now i dont win races against holdens...

Get Mugen headers and a custom exhaust with hi flow cat.. Get a Whale penis intake and a heavy duty clutch with gd flywheel.. Urs is SOHC Vtec.. dunno if u can use VAFC to tune.. but i tink so.. lol not sure.. That should give u a better run with commodores.. commodores are what i call dinosaurs engine.. Prehistoric technology. No point comparing with them...
After that if u wan more power. Go turbo. $3000 can get a gd turbo and install+tune another $1000.. den prepare another $500 for bullshit along the way. After turbo u will be seeing the other side of 100kw atw.. maybe say 110kw atw. U can go up against stock WRX n Slivias.. gd luck..

lets stop bagging the poor d16.like we said,to get anywhere near the skyline speed level you will need to turbo (or engine conversion,but this will be more costly,but your k20 will come with free baller status lol)

IMO
nothing under a turbo + low boost or build , or a B or K series conversion will give you any sort of power increase.
Either just make the car handle nice and have fun or spend a wad on a turbo setup/conversion that will make actual "power"

i have an EG8 and it is well... (gli) i would put at least a b16 b18 or k sumfin in it if i wanted a sports car... the only things i would upgrade on my car is the brakes and struts... and maybe a CAI but only a cheap one
my DC2 would pull away from jazzy commodores... and thats b18c.. double over head came 1800cc VTEC ... the EG8 is single overhead cam 1.5 NO VTEC .. in no way a sports engine lol
i would like to change the CAI to make mine run smoother tho... its a little chunky (not really bad cough splat.. juss not as good as it could be imo) would never put a exhaust on my EG... it would sound terrible lol

putting bolt on mods to a stock d15 engine is a waste of money if your looking for power, ull never be satisfied. the only way ull be able to keep up is either turbo or engine conversion.
both will need considerable $$$, so be prepared to spend to get results.

well lets clear the air...i do have an eg8 took it to my mates at honda today and is a eg8 thank u also for the other ozhonda member for clearing that up too...now i have decided to go a turbo just need to know where to get em from and a good one at a damn good price....and lets get over the commodore thing if ive raced em an won then well done to me maybe im just a good driver :)

I didnt noe he own a GLI auto.. I tot he own a Civic VTI manual. If auto jus ignore wat i say and only turbo n K20 can help him.. lol..

Dude, please dont turbo your automatic VTI.
Save your money for something differant like a VTIR civic and maybe put some dollers into that project because with your current car you'll get nowhere.
Just my 2c.

He has a VTI Manual la.. SOHC VTEC.. So please read the thread carefully.. Cheers...
A SOHC VTEC has slightly more potential than the 1.6 non vtec GLI. I would say if u are out for marginal gains say 10hp atw, heed my advise. Anything more, let turbo and B18CR above help u.
Bear in mind that turboing a SOHC VTEC makes it pull hard at lower rpm with Vtec kicking in at approx 4000rpm will make it enjoyable to drive daily with gd useable power.
So its up to you.

not a bad idea at all been thinkin bout that or selling it and buying a turbo car already but i want a honda :(
