sounds like you have an alarm system with a backup battery, you will need to find the key for the siren (the black box) in your engine bay or where ever it has been located.

you will need use the key to turn off the alarm so that when you disconnect the battery the alarm won't trigger.

by turn the alarm on and off at the backup battery also resets the alarm sometimes so it should fix your issue

other than that there may be a override switch somewhere in your cabin to turn off the alarm also however finding it may prove difficult and sometimes the override switch isn't installed for obvious reason of someone locating it and switching your alarm off while stealing your car etc.
