Regret driving to melbourne and back? I drove Briz -> sydney in a single go as the only driver. On the way back I did it in a single go as well except that I had been awake for atleast 13/14 hours that day cos was at a wedding + reception.

I vowed to never do something that stupid again - then again I did it in a festiva that would shake (steering) badly at 90km/h and up.

Good economy though. Sub 6ltr/100km.

no i dont regret driving, it was good fun, my mrs drove 25% on the way down and 35% on the way back, havent driven down for 10 years, this is the third time ive driven down and back in 13 years.

drove down bc i hardly use my car otherwise, work in the city and catch the bus to work and back so the car doesnt get used much.

our next road trip is to Cairns, in a few years, very similiar distance to Melbourne.

yes 7th Gen, Oct 2005 built.

by using the above data you can also work out the whole average fuel consumption

5.40/100kms to melbourne

and

5.90/100kms on the return

exceptional i would say given this little car took two adults plus full baggage and also odd bits n pieces placed in the boot!, plus some hilly terrain !

That is very impressive economy indeed. Almost as low as a Prius Hybrid.

yea i think its as good as the hybrid on the country roads, but in the city bumper to bumper the prius craps all over any other car i reckon!

slightly better economy than i achieved from central QLD to sydney and back via Leichardt - Newell - New England & Pacific Hwy's. I averaged 6.38 for just over 3,000km with a best of 5.8. 1490km each way & i only stop for fuel & 1 meal break.

clayton4115 & buddah51au, were you guys just using regular 91 unleaded, premium or 98 octane to achieve these figures?
