Heya, installed this B&M short shifter in today.
Just a question to all those who have short shifters, are they supposed to make noise when shifting. It kinda sounds like a grrr (lol). And no I'm not crunching gears.
Also do you find you have to clutch all the way in unlike stock where you didn't have to.
Sounds like it's from the front linkage part.
I'm pretty sure the stock shifter never made any noises. Maybe it's because it isn't broken in.

LOL @ trying to describe the sound it makes.
u cant do a lazy shift.
do u have stock exhaust?
could be vibrating against that? (where u join the shifter and linkage)

lol I know hard to explain.
Yeah have aftermarket exhaust, thought it might be vibrating so re-tightened shifter & linkage.
The noise I'm describing is when the car isn't actually on so it's coming from the front where that thingy opens and closes (forgot the name lol) when you clutch in & shift.
Maybe the noise is normal, sounds like a mini grind, more apparent in 3rd, 4th & 5th gear.

I have the same short shifter but with dual bend. And no it is not normal to make the noise. Either something is loose or it's hitting something. Take it to a mechanic, they put the car up & fix it in no time

Probably because with a short shifter, you are moving the shift linkages at a higher linear velocity. So it is essentially the sound of your synchros wearing. :)

Awww I was hoping it wouldn't do that. But gonna go under the car, check it all out before deciding to take it out or not. Seem's ok atm after driving with it a while seems to have lessen'd the noise, or maybe the synchros are wearing... eekkk
