Hey guys, with the dc-2 98 integras, is it better to keep the airbox cover on, or off in regards to performance, theres a k&n pod in there.

and what is that pipe that runs under the airbox to the tyre well?? i dont think its a cold air as it looks stock

yea its prob best to keep it on only cause heaps of crap will get in there like dirt etc its not to bad as long as heaps of it not goin in , like the least the better , k&n pod are usally made to resist dust etc, if u take it off u will notice possibly a lil more power but it will sound sick , alot more louder.the pipe underneath just runs into a bigger chamber box to allow more air flow hope u have a better understanding

Not necessarily, if you remove it you possibly will be getting all the hot air around the engine bay. Your car performs best with cold, dense air.. If its sucking hot engine bay air then its going to be less-performing than an airbox which is taking air from outside the bay

The plastic "j" pipe/tube attached underneath the airbox leads to a big resonator/silencer box in the corner of the front bumper bar. If you remove the fenderliner/spashguard you will see it. I removed mine to do away with the air restriction it poses,a bit of weight savings,& to get a bit of that "throttle-growl" sound when you floor the accellerator, hahahah. :)

With the airbox lid on I lost top end power with stock intake resonator and piping, without the lid I lost bottom end, so I just made a 4 in tube fit the airbox and run to the bumper to give the best of both,
