Hey,

lol im too lazy to search..

anyone can link me to detailed information from doing a cabry to efi engine swap?

Well.. what im really after is....

from the engine bay.. i can see one fuel line, which is pretty much where the fuel filter is sitting..

- if a EFI engine is gettin chucked into it... what things are to be changed...?

pretty much anything from the fuel tank onwards...

- need to run anymore lines? for anything?

- or would that one fuel line just connect straight to the efi engine.

You might get more response if you at least pretended that you searched!

You need to add a return fuel line, fuel pump, obviously need the EFI harness and ECU to suit

Imeanreallydudego****yourselfwillya?

Seriously you haven't even told us which car

lol

but thanks for info drew.

Dupac,
I'm not really on your case. I have no idea what's up Drew's arse, but he should pull it out I think.

get a EF8/9 EFi wiring harness..
EFI EF fuel lines and fuel tank
swap it over replace the carby stuff with EFi stuff

just run a external fuel pump. Wired in a aftermarket ECU to save swapping over looms. e.g microtech.

I would do this in a EF carby to Efi conversion.

I'm curious to know exactly why you need EFI lines with the EFi tank..
is it because there is no return line on the carby??

If so, couldnt you just have 1 extra hardline made up?

Im thinking i may have to do this as i cant find EFi lines.

well i can see one line coming from the tank.

so i was thinking of running one more line for the return line.

and then go from there?

+ external fuel pump.

I just looked at the lines that came off my carb EG.
There seems to be absolutely no reason for getting EFi lines.
There are 3 hardlines there already:
1. feed
2. return
3. one for the canister/emissions (vapours)

I will be able to confirm for sure soon whether 92 GL lines work with an EFi EG tank. Ill keep you informed. I think people are being misguided with the lines.

ill have a geez at my lines too..

i can only see one fuel like from the engine bay.. gotta have a proper look around.. im guessin thats the feed line

but yeah..

Look under that car, you will see all the lines heading from the rear to the firewall/bay.

There will be 5 in a clip together
1.feed line
2.return line
3.vapour line
4.RHS rear brake line
5.LHS rear brake line

Looking in the bay isnt really gonna help.

I dont think you need EFi lines though. I'm not getting any.
[[danny]] mentioned he would prefer to use the EFi lines as the EFi system is under more pressure than a non-EFi system which is a fair point. I don't think there would be any issues with the carb lines though personally.

If i had EFi lines, i would use them though.

As i said there NOT needed.

anyone else on this issue? so really, just plug an aftermarket fuel pump in?

if i were to use an aftermarket ecu, how would this wire up?

you also need oxygen sensor for the exhaust, all the wiring i think needs to be redone though :S u need the intake manifold and all the rest of the fuel lines n shit..

If changing to an EFi engine and your car is originally carby you need:

-EFi tank (the carby one is different)
-Fuel pump (id recommend it although you may be able to use the one that comes with the tank depending what engine etc)
-EFi underdash wiring harness + underdash fuse box
-Either some wire + soldering iron etc to wire the fuel pump to your main relay (you could swap over the interior wiring harness for an EFi one also)
-Fuel lines (i used the old carby lines)
-EFi Fuel filter
-Most likely new filler neck hoses and some fuel line for connecting the hardlines to the fuel tank. Possibly some new hose clamps too. You will be extremely lucky if you are able to remove these without damaging/cutting them off.
-Emissiions gear you may need off the EFi engine. I havent worried about this, although i will prob have to find some emissions gear for roadworthy eventually.

To install it all you need:
-dash out to install wiring
-fuel tank swapover/fuel pump install... isnt real hard

IMO it would be a complete waste of time and money to modify an already carb EG motor to EFi.

If going with an EFi engine, the engine should hopefully have all the EFi engine related gear you need (O2 sensor, rail, injectors etc etc)
