hey all, i am recently having a problem with my battery. ive had problems with BOTH of my batteries, my car wouldn't start and i brought a new battery (stupid me for not checking but i was at a servo and couldnt move). but, now its happening with my new one too. the oxidation deposits keep building up on the terminals and makes my car unable to start, so each time i have to take the terminal off, clean it, then put it back on and it goes. but the thing is, why does it happen EVERY time, like within 2 hours of driving the car i will have to clean the terminals, why is there such an abundance of the oxidation? and how can i stop it?

Thanks

Clean it with baking soda and warm water, dry them and then lather it with grease.
If they are screwed then replace them and lather,i.e. put a fair bit on :) , them with grease.

It occours from the acidic water fumes coming out of the battery I think.

^^^read that somewhere too but duno where to get em?

once you do clean them though put those oxidation absorber thingies you put around the terminals... their like $3 and i haven't had to clean mine since.

Petroleum jelly will run when exposed to the heat. Get a bottle of Inox spray and spray a coating on the terminal. That's all you need. Less messy than a grease.

Also, have you considered using a sealed battery instead?

CRC make a battery terminal sealant spray; kind of a yellowish sticky when first applied substance

I use it all the time; stops that shit from forming on the batteries ^_^
