I'm looking for a Civic or an Integra, but Integra atm seems to be out of my budget. I'm looking for a civic now, but as i see, they are really over priced these days due to P-Plate rules and all i heard? Well anyways, the cheap ones have done about 200,000+ Ks, and I'm just wondering..

If i was to buy one with 200k+ Kms, what would i have to do in order for the car to run smoothly and nicely for a few years to come and so i can also modify. I've heard things about changing the head or engine conversion, but would anyone please elaborate what i would have to do please. And save money as well, as I've just come out of school and yes, not much money.
Thanks in advanced.

k20-k24 atm u'll prob need over 10k for parts to a conversion into eg.
b16a are alot cheaper, they fit into the eg using stock mounts to.
they go for around 3-4k.
but before you consider buying a conversion get a car and work on from there.
buying an eg with efi will make things easier and cheaper, so buying a breeze or gl which are carby will mean more work.
also the eg vti and si have rear disc brakes the other others dont, so think about brake upgrade.
but getting a b16a will be easier with registering with the engine. with the K's ull need bigger brakes and go through inspection etc etc.=headaches.
how much is ur budget for a car?

like u said though u want a car now im assuming cos u jsut got out of highschool buy an eg and slowly work with it, when uve got money but a part when u get more money buy another slowly u'll eventually have all the parts you need for the conversion or whatever you plan to do. k24 in an eg is quick yes but also a very expensive project. it really depends on what you want out of the car. is it really important beating a turbo on a straight or where even a b16a around the moutains in an eg will do fine agaisnt a turbo? my 2c. o yeah congratz on finishing highschool michael! havent seen u in ages lol

like everyone else has mentioned get an EFI Civic if your looking at doing an engine conversion
u can find a 94 civic for about 4K.
engine conversion, your looking at anything from 4K - 10K depending on which engine you use and how u want it set up.

Get it manual too much hastle doing a conversion or Auto if you cant drive manual.

Changing from an auto to manual would cost you around about 3.5g not sure.
What involves in changing, alot lot bro. like Clutch, Manual g'box, and change the auto shifting column to a Gear shift column. Better buying a car with manual.

Car that has over 200ks on them still runs good, just do your normal services then it would run fine. but dun need to worry if your getitng engine conversion. LOL

but if his gonna do an engine conversion msot of that stuff would be replaced anyways? so lets say persay he wants to learn to drive on an auto first as theres less things to worry about then a b series swap later.. he'd be able to get manual with a bit fo an extra cost as he'd have to get new pedals too lol although as everybody ahs been saying on this topic just buy a manual to start off with! learning in an eg is pretty easy its pretty forgiving thats what car i learnt in =]
