Hello OH,
my x-force extractors are stained and purple.. i thought this was quite normal until someone said they weren't supposed to be that colour?.. what colour should it be and how do i go bout cleaning it if possible... or is this juz total utter bullshit i shouldn't bother wasting my time over. cheers.
*originally they were silver.. ??

ive heard that SS headers tend to go that purple colour.
I wouldnt say its anything to worry about

Like everyone has said so far, stainless goes purple when heated. I actually prefer it that way too.

its normal. Doesn't matter how much you fix chrome it will start to go back a funny colour from the heat. The only way to get them a certain colour is to ceramic coat them, but that ain't cheap. Your better off buying a better set if you were to do that.
I used engine enamel on the headers also, it works without pealing so that's also the cheap option. You can also pick a nice ceramic colour

i wouldnt recomend using a metal polish lol i used that on a friends exhaust >_<" lol it made the whole thing look purple, i liked the end result haha but he wasnt too happy :P

When you cleaned it, did you get it back to the sparkly raw metal / chrome look? Cause if you did, it will turn purple again once a couple heat cycles go through it. Golden colour... then to purple. If you left oils on it... it will turn a mottled purple.

lol well i jst ate lunch right before i did it so my oily chicken fingers probably gave it that touch of mottled purple hahaha..
and yaa it went purple straight away, i didnt even see it go chrome it all happnd so fast!!
