hey guys,
was working on my mates car today, anyone here have a METALCAT?
if so tell me how good it is? and how it performs,
i am really furious that the fact they claim to be the best cat converters in the world or around,
mate spent 550 on it and it's f*&$$d
i just want people to beware of these type of things, could be a imitation, could be real and just made dodgy.
was for an EVO9, and we are currently chasing the seller back for a exchange or refund. see how it goes hey?
here is a photo of the inside honeycomb ( looks normal?)

funny thing is i'm pretty sure "Metal Cat" as a brand sell both a ceramic and metal variant... he probably got the ceramic one??
and can you please elaborate on "****ED"? like why or how?

How kms did that metalcat have? If you run it too hot (especially if running rich like on a turbo, the excess fuel burns in the cat), the metal element might soften and deform, giving the problem in the pic above.

That's a metal cat, not a cermaic one.
I've only seen that happen once on an original metal, but that car was a GTR with over 1000hp atw.
Metal cats (original ones) should have a life-time warranty on them.
The one that i saw they exchanged it straight away, and they were suprised it broke. It broke in a similar way also. Haven't seen the replacement come back so i'm assuming it held the 1000hp
I'm not an expert but i think that one may be a fake. I was pretty sure the real ones are engraved with metal cat.

The website doesn't tell much on how to spot a fake....
To the threadstarter, if it is a real metalcat, just go contact metalcat and they should replace it for your friend.

Those are just pics of "Metal Cat™ Logo , MetalCat™ Box Artwork [High 13.2mb] Metal Cat™Box Artwork [Low 800k] , Metal Cat™ [High] , Metal Cat™ [Low] Metal Cat™ Deep Etched , MetalCat™ Stamped , Metal Cat™ Biscuit , Metal Cat™ internals , Metal Cat™ [Deep Etched]". Am I supposed to look out for all of those and match them up? Heck, the heading that those links are under is "Advertising Campaigns".

My mate had one and it ****ed up just like yours, had it replaced under warrenty after numerous questions about the tune state of the car ie: running rich or missfiring etc...
