Planning on removing all the sound deading in the rear in an EK1, from where the carpet ends to the boot (rear is completely stripped), just wondering on how much dry ice I am going to need roughly, so I dont over buy or under buy when I go out to get it (have to make order of how much I'd like 1 day prior to pickup/purchase) , so for those who have done it, give me some numbers.

zico says 6-7kgs for EK.. | scraper and degreaser is used to remove the residue after the main pieces have been removed.. 2kgs enuf for rear and the rest for under the carpet

use a heatgun and a flathead chisel. Abit more muscles and patience but works best

I removed mine, but I didnt go for dry ice, I waited for cool weather and even got a bag of ice from the shops and it did the trick.
chisel , hammer , wire brush , tar remover , degreaser
Thats what I used on mine.
Dry Ice FTW, Clean and fast.
You just peal off the pieces with your hand. Where chiseling probably takes several hours, Dry Ice, done in less than 1 hour. Wear gloves.

where da hell do u get dried ice? would be nice to use it on my comp during the summer!
BOC Gases - go to yellow pages and search for nearest BOC GAS's.. theres one on horsley drive wetherill park, near the temple. they have it for $6.70/kg | bring an eski to carry the dry ice home or expect to pass out at the wheel and have a car crash

lol not unless i have all the windows down at 60km/hr! should provide enough ventilation!
but esky would be a good idea. i need to try dry ice once on my comp on a hot day!

only for weight reduction. i think you get like what 5-10kg reduction.
Dun bother unless your hardcore cos it just increases interior noise
12kgs all up in sound deadening front and rear and firewall carpet removed from an EK

Sounds like some nice extra weight to get rid of but how much difference in noise will it make on a EK Sedan?

quite a bit and imo the car feels more rickety too in my eg. lol used a flathead screwdriver and hamemr for mine! tried using a heatgun but found that ended up melting the tar and made it harder to get off!
1. strip all interior pieces or the aprt that you want to do
2. flathead screwdriver and hammer (found that when using a chisel i accidentally punched a hole through my chasis has been welded up now)
3. start hammering away
4. degrease the whole thing use plenty of it!!
5. wirebrush to remove all the excess
6. dry off
7. quick respray =] optional!
my 2cents hope it helped.

I only used around 4 kilo and i done to the rear o the front seats
I found dry ice to be better because it came off clean and easy and left little residue that was easy removed with a quick wipe over with prepsol
If you can get the dry ice in pellet form and leave it in the bag or put it in smaller bags.
If you have any troubles just give us a yell
