ED centre console fan speed control

Hey ppl, im having problems wiv the fan speed control in the centre console. Numbers 1-3 dont work but 4 and 5 do. Like i click it between 1-3 nothing comes out. Yet, wen i click on the a/c, the green light goes on and the car adjusts its idle and u can hear the compressor go to life. Yet even so, nothing comes out, only comes out on 4 n 5...very annoying if you dont want such high fan levels...is this the console problem? Or is it computer related? How can i get it fixed? Would just replacing the console fix the problem?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

A: EDs do not have a computer for anything other than airflow to the carbs.

B: Replacing the console won't fix anything I don't think - by your account it's sending messages (at least to the compressor).

Sounds like the fan unit is wearing out to me - they do get quite faint after 14 years of use.

Take it to an auto-electrician - they will fix it in no time or at least work out what the issue is.
