Hey Guys i just want to let you all know about my experience with the TEIN Flex on an Accord Euro. Im no expert in technical terms.. soo im just going to describe it in my own words..

TEIN Flex
Price: $1900
Purchased on: April 2006
Travelled: 29,000KM
Front Drop: 10.66 cm Max. + an extra 1 cm by loosening the springs
Rear Drop: 7.36 cm Max. + an extra 1.5 cm by loosening the springs

One of the reason why i didn't get the Super Street is because of the maximum drop. The look that i wanted to achieve was to look like as if i had an Air Suspension kit fitted without paying $6-8K for it and thats why i went with the Flex.

At first i had it installed at TOP ONE Automotive, dropped front and back by 2 inches, asked all my friends how it looked and said that it was very low. but then 3 months have gone by and to me it didn't look that low, so then i started jacking up the car myself and lowered it even more. and now that its dropped to the max, I had a lot more problems than usual. i couldn't get into most shopping malls, would definitely scrape everytime i go over a speed hump, constantly driving like a granny with my head right up against the windshield looking out for put holes. and even tho i had all these problems and parents keep asking me to raise it up but i still haven't. But the worse problem i had was one day when i had a full car load, i went over a put hole and all the sudden my VSA light switched on and i couldnt turn it off, a few minutes later while i was driving i heard a loud clucking noise made from the rear left wheel. and thats when i started panicking. i quickly called TOP ONE Automotive and told them what had happened and that i was coming in to get my car checked. When i got there they told me that i was very lucky to have made it to the workshop and not have an accident, apparently that clucking noise is because my rear left wheel was about to come off. they showed me by shaking the wheel and it woobled even tho it was tightly screwed on. So then i had to leave my car there overnight and get it repaired. $585 repair job (had to replace this and that). i know this is all my fault.. but im happy with the way my car looks. i just want to advise people not to do the same suspension setup that i did because trust me, you'll have alot issues. dont be stupid like me.. hehehe

Hope this review will help others decide how low they want their car and the consequences.

Moving to the Review section... although it looks more like you are reviewing a super-low ride height rather than the Tein Flex themselves.

talk more about the actual item itself and then call it a review...this is mostly about your experiences with having a LOW ride...

so what did they replace? One of the suspension links probably broke- all the camber plus full car equals stressed out Euro!

A camber kit may have helped

well its expected something is bound to give way at that sorta ride height esp with shit sydney roads.

i think you should raise it back up abit or get some bigger rims to offset that drop...

IM NOT too fussed on how low it is,
I reckon u definately need bigger wheels man, i got a cd5 with 18s and they look tiny....

euro is worse, go 19s.

should even raise it a little once the 19s are on, to avoid scrubbing.
will look immaculate

that is low lol. those stock side skirts hang too low man, u gonna keep have more probs and regret it. raise it like what fly said. when u get bigger wheels and camber it, i dont think u ll notice a diff in the height look, plus get a front lip to cater for the height raise.

daim

need to raise that shiet. too low. raise it at least 1-2cm.

that would put a lot of extra strain on ur suspension, not to mention the accellerated wear on the tyres from the camber...

Stupidly low but looks awesome get rims + lip kit bro it will make it look so much better and with the right adjustments it can make it look even lower

WTF... did u break you hub..

what has that got to do with a lowered car..?

tell us what broke form the receipt..

bennjamin
19-01-2008, 02:11 PM
maybe one of the bottom "arms" (x2) that hold the hub were loose and came loose ?
Otherwise nothing should really go THAT wrong , unless you hit a big pot hole or gutter lol

You almost achieved the ride height as if you are using AirRunner like my car but the difference is the convinient that you can't go to most of the places. With AirRunner you can just raise your car up in less than 5 seconds. I almost did the same thing like you when i still used D2 coilover but i didn't do it just because of the convinient sake.

can you take a pic from the back?

i want to see what your lower control arm positioning looks like lol

Probably,
you wont be dissapointed with superstreets.

not 100% sure on the specs, can probably be seen on teins website.

no you CANNOT acheice that same ride height wit Tein SS. I have personally seen the lowest height on Tein SS for the rear, and its still got like 1 fingergap. crapola.

can you please post up the part or part no. of what actually broke or jump under the car and have a look, i cant imagine what broke worth that much apart from the upper control arm cracking which would be stress related. $300 arm, $285 labour?

my mate has been riding this low with 20's for 20k, drives it every day and not a problem as of yet...

not 100% but i thought +45... will find out... guards had to be rolled so much it cracked the paint and inside of rear bumper trimmed out a bit, so it wasnt a straight fit ;)

i cant remember the exact parts that were damaged when i hit the put hole.. and i dont have the receipt.. but i remember the mechanic saying to me "the wheel bearing is damaged, the arm, brake pad gone.. because the its rubbing against the disc.. and the sensor is also damaged." or something like that. When i arrived at the workshop i remember touching the wheel and it was boiling hot and the brake caliper was orange.

i got defected for the second time on sunday.. so i decided to raise the car by 3cm yesterday and now its on 10cm ground clearance.

LOL,

Depends the drop your after.
I am not 100% sure on euros, but on cd5s, the lowest drop is a nice ride, but if you want ridiculously low like this euro, then it "probably' wouldnt be achieved through superstreets unless you had a lip kit,

Sean
p.s. i got tein basics, exactly what I was after in the way of lowering vs practicality of a daily driver.

Driving low rider it always a problem man, but it shouldnt be much to your car. Must drive slow, especially on rough road.
low your car prolly the best option for me to avoid speeding

this is pic of my old work van back 5 years ago as an example, with just 4 finger ground clearance, i used standard shocks (i didnt use proper shocks, prolly worse than your car).
its my daily drive from syd to country side, roughly 800 km each day. it was pretty much travel on gravel road
i never had a problem ever since i was driving max 100km/h on smooth road and 60km/h on gravel road

hey rein what do you mean by loosening the springs to get that extra drop ?

would it work on tein ss ? i have them on my eg and there is still a small gap 0.5-1cm between the wheel and the guard which id like to get rid of except its on the lowest setting already

any help would be good =]
