okay now i've got my stock ek4 rear swaybar and taken off the endlinks

trying to match it up to the dc2r ends and its completely different!

ek4 swaybar end;

as far as i can see its not a bolt on affair :( anyone want to enlighten me on what i'm missing or doing wrong?

***** edit; info on how i've temporarily solved it *****
[i]so i've found a way to make bushings out of vinyl tubing

list of goods you'll need from bunnings;
$3.20, 3/8" flat washers, pack of 18(found in the nuts and bolts section)
$0.52, 8mm joiner clear vinyl tubing(found in the hoses section with all the irrigation stuff)
$0.55, 10mm joiner clear vinyl tubing(as above)
$0.66, 12 or 12.5mm joiner clear vinyl rubing(as above)

now the idea is to build up layers of vinyl tubing to replicate the oem bush

1. put one washer on the endlink before slipping on the tubing
2. start with the 8mm piece, cut a piece about 15mm long and slip it over the thread
3. cut a 15mm piece from the 10mm joiner and with the help of some sort of lube(i used rp7) push it over the 8mm piece already in place
4. cut a 15mm piece from the 12/12.5mm joiner and again lube it up and push it over the last piece
5. lube up the diy bush and the endlink hole and push the bushing through, might have to use a hammer to get it through
6. once you get it through put a washer at the end and bolt it up tight, you can either reuse the old bolt or you can buy another one from bunnings (m10, 1.25mm)
7. tighten it up as best you can and that should be it

i'll post pics later, just a bit busy now

what i did was push out the metal cylinder that goes thru the dc2r bush so that u can fit the ek4 endlink thread thru and jsut tighten the nut on the other side. or the proper way wud be to get somthing like the asr metal bushes

yeah its probably near impossible to find them in australia though :(
i've considered getting enough washers to replicate what asr have done though, will report back whether i can find any the right size

unfortunately yonas has nothing for me :(
headed down to bunnings and bought some washers, vinyl tubing and some rubber gromets
i'll see if i can whip up something to replicate that asr insert :)

well i've made a diy bushing that fits pretty well inside using vinyl tubing from bunnings(about $4 in total to make 2 bushings)
i'd gamble that its much better than using the stuck dc2r bush and pushing the little metal cylinder and using the old bush

if you're interested i can make a diy thread, i've only done one side so far so i can diy for the other side

u can use the oringal bushes ... drill it out then place a big washer on each end to hold it together..

I did that for about a year or so.. it was fine...

this is worying me lol, i might have the same dilema. Could you show us what you did?

i got a dc2r RSB to put on my teg, will it fit on teg endlinks bolton?

i have the asr kit and its got some small cylindrical metal bits (two of them) that are abou 1cm long each. are these the bushings im supposed to use?

dudeling7; only applies to ek endlinks on dc2r sway bar, dc2 endlinks should be fine on the bar :)

well i can't be bothered to diy it so i'll just tell you what i did here, i'll just update the first post

if you need the ASR inserts just contact them directly in the US. its about 20-25 bucks for them posted to AUS (however you need a paypal account). otherwise you can try and find EK9 bushes and that should do the trick for a DC2R rear sway with ek endlinks.

awesome, you'll be happy with those, makes the ride a little stiffer though, make sure you tighten you nuts properly and re tighten them after 100kms or so or the nut might fall off and you'll lose the inserts. it happens... to me in particular and caused me all sorts.

pretty stiff at the moment with my ghetto bushings but will be interesting to see whether the inserts will help much more :)

this thread should be stickied up lol. you don't need it for CTR sway bar tho right?

vinnY
16-11-2008, 10:25 PM
yep you can go ghetto method or get the asr inserts if your kit doesn't come with it

ek9 swaybar ends are different no need for the inserts, only for the teg ones

thanks Vinny for the info. Stumbled into this problem just then. Have emailed ASR direct to get a set of inserts.

Hopefully all this trouble to get 23mm ITR bar to fit will be worth it over just getting a brand new 22mm EK9 bar!!

vinnY

yeah should work with the 23mm bar afaik, the ends should be no different :)

I havn't got a reply from ASR yet..

so in the meantime I custom made some adapters lol

http://members.iinet.net.au/~tuyenn/IMG_1780%20(Medium).JPG

I noticed that the nut that holds the endlink in place doesn't have enough thread to go in fully. Have you noticed if yours becomes loose after a while? Just bit worried that's all.

Hopefully my sway bar doesn't fall off mid corner on the track :)

vinnY
14-04-2009, 05:16 PM
well the asr spacers sorta recess into the bar a bit so it's no thicker, i'd say theres about 10-13mm of thread sticking out which seems to be adequate
if you're worried throw some loctite on and hope for the best :)
